Very true scooter - I wouldn't want Ledley back to be honest, but I'd take Hooper without the "baggage"...... With Nicky Maynard and Fraizer already here in that sort of role for us (though Hooper is a bit different in that he can mix it a bit and hold up), we need a "back to goal" striker to lay off and bring our midfield into the final third. Hooper would help matters, but he's not the complete answer to our needs.
To be honest, I think Hooper will make the step up no problem and I'd be quite happy to see him come to us.
I agree, it seems they are haggling about the fee, Burnley don't want add on's, they want just a staight forward fee.
Some old git called Bertie Auld thinks were a fishing village in Humberside... http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/...s/celtic-legend-bertie-auld-believes-1923514? Clueless twat.
I wouldn't read too much into it, by his reckoning, moving from septic to man city or arsenal is a downward step
What a dick. I like his idea that only Man Utd and Liverpool would be ambitious moves. Has he heard of Chelsea? The team that just won the Champions' League last season and the Europa League this season? What about Arsenal, Man City or Tottenham?
That doesn't really help them now though does it? Personally I think Hooper is too good for us but not because of some history bullshit. He should be going to somewhere like Fulham or Norwich if they're after him. Any established PL side is bigger than Celtic. I agree with whoever it was that said we're in the bottom 5 teams in the PL for player attraction, so I wouldn't be too annoyed if he turned us down to stay at Celtic, but if he decided to stay there over a club like Fulham he's ****ing mad.
It does if you're arguing that they're a more attractive prospect than City. Now all that counts is the money and whether they're winning stuff, but even if they're doing the latter most choose the first option.
If a player is ambitious, then he wants to be tested at the highest level and that is most certainly not going to happen at an SPL club. Players will obviously be attracted to a club playing in the Champions League(however briefly) and a club that regularly wins things, but no really ambitious player wants to wasting most of his playing career in the SPL.
And if he wants a challenge, you can get bored of having it so easy Celtic have absolutely zero competition up there
I don't understand the argument about playing in the Champions League; he could potentially just be playing two games before they lose to Shakhtar or Rosenborg and then have to go back to playing Ross County, Partick Thistle and St. Johnstone. If he came to us, then yeah, he wouldn't be in the Champions League, but he'd be playing (and probably scoring) in the Premier League for a whole season. I mean, T.N.S. play in the Champions League, but you wouldn't join them just for that, because you'd have to play against teams like Bangor City, Airbus UK and Afan Lido the rest of the time.
Well, they have to qualify to get to the group stage, but I thought winning the Welsh Premier League put you in the second round? Either way, they're still technically in the Champions League Which I believe Celtic have to do if their co-efficient remains as it is? They don't go straight into the group stage anymore do they?
It's exactly the same, Celtic have to qualify to, in fact, they may even have to play TNS to get through, they're expected to play one of the following - FH Hafnarfjardar, The New Saints, Sligo Rovers, Cliftonville, Daugava, Kalju Nomme or CS Fola Esch.
