Speculation has been going around that we might resign Fabregas, but some might actually think we don't really need him as we already have a lot of good midfield creative options with Cazorla, Wilshere, Rosicky, and even Arteta. The way this could be made to work, is if Fabregas does return to the team, he can play as our creative middle man as he did before, and Cazorla would play out wide from the left wing, as he was primarily used towards the end of the season, the amount of creativity this would provide would be amazing! With Arshavin leaving, we need another creative winger, well we can solve the problem by simply utilising Cazorla in that winger position, and should Fabregas get injured, well then Cazorla can simply slot into Fabregas' central creative midfield position, this would give us great quality depth! Cazorla as a regular wing option is surely a better prospect than Gervinho, Cazorla out in the right, Podolski in the left, with a new striker up front, sometimes Cazorla out left, with Walcott out right, and the new CF. We need quality depth, and getting Fabregas gives us so much quality creative depth.
Fabregas is a proud man and I doubt that he is going to want to leave Barca as a failure, so I am pretty sure that he is going to stay for another season at least to prove the doubters at Barca wrong.
Never say never. It's not likely to happen this season though.. Fab left because he said we had stagnated. We haven't really improved much since then either.
I don't think Fabregas would leave as a failure, he's just not being properly used at Barca, as most predicted, they never really needed him. Wenger has shown recently that he is willing to take back former players, I mean he's done it with players many would say were past it, Campbell, Lehmann, and Henry. So why wouldn't he take back a Fabregas right in his prime? And a Fabregas that would greatly benefit our team? We have the option of first choice for Fabregas in the contract, I don't think we'd have done that if we never intended to get him back, but most likely put that clause because we would want him back.
As a Liverpool fan, I would be very happy to see Fabregas back in the prem, a great player of real quality that the prem is becoming devoid of. Also as a big Arsenal and Wenger admirer adding Fab to the ranks, and a quality striker and you have closed the gap considerably in my opinion!
Fabregas did not leave because we had stagnated, he left because he had the opportunity to go back to his "home" club. If they reject him, he will come to Arsenal (mainly because of Wenger), but even if some fans are down on him, I don't think in general Barcelona are. I would love to see him back and the club would take him back in a heartbeat, but I doubt it will be this year, if ever.
Like SJW I think Fab will probably stay for at least another season at Barca, but if he did leave then I've no doubt that Wenger would re-sign him given the chance. I also believe that Cesc would want come back to Arsenal if he left Barca, as he loves the club and views Wenger as a Father figure. Also don't forget that we have first refusal to sign him and get basically get a 5O% discount
Fabregas left because he wanted to.. 1. Play for his Childhood Club in his home country. 2. Play under his Idol Pep Guardiola. Firstly, The grass is'nt always greener on the other side. He's gone from being the Captain of a Club he was adored in to being a utility man often played out of position. Secondly Pep is not coming back to Barca anytime soon and Xavi may be getting on a bit but I expect he will still be a regular in this Barca side for another 3+ Seasons - he's not exactly a player that relies on his athletiscsm. Also stylistically I think Fabregas has been moulded by Wenger into more of an EPL style midfielder. He has all the technical skills but he's at his best when he's allowed to chase the ball, make tackles.. etc. Does Fabregas really want to waiste another three years being played out of position before he gets a chance in his best position? Arsenal have first option to buy (supposedly) with any Barcelona sell-on. Therefore we cannot let Fabregas go to one of our rivals in the EPL(ie:United). If that happens for me it would be even more upsetting than the RVP situation. Arsene Wenger - Decemeber 2012: âCesc is a world-class player. Iâm not convinced he wonât come back here one day. Heâs an Arsenal man. He loves Arsenal. He watches every Arsenal game. âBarcelona was his home town where he grew up and you have to accept this, especially as Barcelona are the best team in the world"
I am sure Secs wil stay. He wants to replace Xabi and time is on his side. I doubt Barca wants to sell him. His buy-out clause is £170 ml btw.
I think IF for whatever reason he decided to leave he would prefer Arsenal to ManUnited provided that conditions are about the same. He is not THAT desperate for trophies, because unlike RVP before his move, Fab already has plenty and (I hope) he is not a **** of RVP proportions. I think something like £150+/week would be enough for us to get him back. But if Arsenal decide he is too expensive I can not see the reason why not joining ManUnited. But the main point - most probably he does not even thinks about leaving Barca. This is all rumors blown out of all proportions.
If he ever went to United, it would tarnish his time with us considerably. If he does truly watch 'every Arsenal game', then he would've seen RVP's reception at the Emirates.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/aug/19/barcelona-cesc-fabregas-stagnated-arsenal Perhaps I should have worded that differently, Cesc felt that he had "stagnated" at Arsenal, i.e. not going anywhere or developing, so he took a career decision to move back to his home town and work under his boyhood idol Pep.
Regardless, Wenger may well be right. Looks like he will be there for another year then they will reconsider his options.
Surely he is at a stage where long term is no good to him. Was very successful at an early age (God, he is old enough to have received a winner's medal at Arsenal) surely hanging around for Xavi to retire is not going to appeal to him for much longer.
Well yeah my thoughts exactly. He's 25, I give Xavi another three years at the top. Does he really want to wait til he is 28?
