Fletcher is a very good player but I don't think he will be guaranteed a starting spot next season, 2bh I think the only player that will be and thats if he is still here is Mignolet and thats a good thing, you need competition all over the park and Di Canio will want that.

I do think Paolo will bring in a top striker to challenge Fletcher for the starting spot and it will be upto them to fight for it. Nothing better than healthy competition

Don`t agree. His conversion rate was very good considering opportunities were in very short supply.

I think he will do well in a team more attack minded, which is the way PDC seems to be thinking.

Time will tell of course but I`d be inclined to keep him at least to see what he can do with a lot more help than he`s been getting.

I would expect us to bring in better than fletcher having said that fletcher is and will be a valuable member of our strike force.he has been nothing more than excellent

Really? Based on what? Someone posted a stat the other day showing he has highest shooting accuracy and the second highest chance conversion in the league.

He's surprised me how good he is and has scored some superb goals like at Wigan, Reading and West Ham. If RVP had scored those goals the media would be creaming themselves stupid. He has an excellent touch and while is not the fastest makes up for that with his positioning. Can't wait to see him back fit again leading our line.

Hello! The Stats are already on this thread proving him wrong. Very strange comments indeed.

Totally baffling mate, I think some of our fans need to realise where we are as a club (we finished 17th) and that we cannot afford 20m pound players who beat three men and score in each game.

Fletch is an extremely good striker for where we are at as a club now which is a bottom half of the pl side.

Quite remarkably strange from a bloke who's normally very level headed.

Thing is, We looked worse after Fletch got injured but the reality is we've been just as bad all season long, Without fletch this season would have been like being with Mig. Relegated.

However with Johnson, fletcher and AJ, we created and scored few goals.

I know we will be playing a different style can these players be transformed simply by a system?

Further still we have no idea when Fletcher will be fit? What if he is out for the first 10 games.

He's looking for 5 strikers so we should be ok if he's not back for pre season. If you don't get a pre season you've no business playing any part in at least the first 5 games.

"I know we will be playing a different style can these players be transformed simply by a system?"

Only if the players brought in to play in that system are good enough, coz our current crop of defenders and midfielders have not been.

"Further still we have no idea when Fletcher will be fit? What if he is out for the first 10 games".

If he comes back into the playing squad fit later in the season i'd have thought that would be an excellent boost to our team and chances of improving performances.

I can't quite believe some people are knocking him.....he's a class act. with better service and a better haircut, he's a real asset.
