I have read on our TWTD supporters website that Norwich and Ipswich are in advanced talks regarding a pre season friendly to take place at Carrot Rud in July! Have any of you guys heard anything about this? I have reservations about having a 'friendly' with Norwich because let's be honest, this is one of the most bitterest rivalries in English football so the idea of a friendly is just madness!
Poor idea for me, would cause all kinds of problems for the Police, just for a friendly. Say it did go ahead, if there was a winner, it would mean absolutely nothing, it would not be deemed a first class match. Never watch any kind of friendly football match, how goal scorers in international friendlies, have the goals credited to theircareer records, is beyond me, as in practically all matches, the rules have been altered.
I don't see any benefit to this tbh. There is no such thing as a friendly between our clubs, so it just increases the risk of injury to players on both sides, because neither set of fans will accept anything less than 100 per cent from the players and then there is the policing of the game. Sounds like a no win either way.
Can't see the point in it! all it would be is hooligan players like Holt trying to maim our players again.
That’s what you get for having chinless wonders running the club – they genuinely think fans “love” derby games, when any proper football fan who knows his/her arse from his/her elbow hates the twats.
I should point out that by “the twats” I mean derby games in general, whoever you support, not that everyone should hate Norwich. Though of course they should, but that’s not the point I was making.
You seem quite chilled out Jonah, hope those sessions I recommended are working. A friendly game would mean that we could sing the anthem "We'll never play you again" so I would be in favour of it.
It seems that this story keeps gathering momentum.. I'm not sure I'd be too happy about the profits going to the Norwich academy.. All profits should go to charity and maybe if they were to add some form of superficial meaning to it then it may be more worthwhile i.e. the hospital cup of the old days...
