I for one really hope that he's kept on and is given a fair chance with us next season. I've no doubt that in the Championship he could do a good job for us... 29/05/2013 By Jordan Foster DJ Campbell says he wants to stay at QPR but accepts he may have to go elsewhere in order to play first-team football. The Hammersmith-born forward, who supported Rangers as a youngster, has made only 11 league appearances since signing for the club from Blackpool in the summer of 2011. And he faces an uncertain future as manager Harry Redknapp assesses his squad ahead of next season. Campbell, 31, said: âI want to stay. This is my team. âIâd absolutely love to stay and help them achieve things that Iâve dreamed of achieving on a personal level and what we should be achieving as a team. âBut this is football and itâs not that easy â sometimes you have to assess all your options.â Campbell scored 10 goals in 17 Championship appearances while on loan at Ipswich last season and ended the campaign on loan at Blackburn. He was surplus to requirements at Rangers, who suffered relegation despite their huge spending. And Campbell admitted: âIâm not sure what went wrong this year. Weâve got some great players. Itâs a massive shame. âItâs a shame because weâve spent a lot of money to buy these players and for whatever reasons it hasnât worked out and being a QPR fan itâs sad to see us go down. âThe chairman invested heavily and it just hasnât worked for us. âI donât know if it was a case of players not pulling their weight. Thatâs not really my position to say. âI was on loan a lot of the time but I know this will have hurt some of the lads there and all I can wish and hope for is that we can bounce back up next year.â
Agree....keep. Not prem standard, but is that level between championship and prem. Reckon him and Betty could do well as a partnership.
Not sure as a partnership but good enough as squadies but really need a 20 goal striker which assuming Remy goes we won't have.
he's a Ranger, it would be like having a Lee Cook back in the side, he wont just turn up for the money
I would keep him. Blood sweat and tears for the Rangers. I know that DJ isn't a 20 goal a season. He's a 30 goal a year striker!!!
He proved on loan at Ipswich he can score. I'd have him in the squad over Zamora every day of the week
KEEP KEEP KEEP. The man wants to play for us. Sorted. Isn't that what Harry said he was looking for? And look at his record last season in the Championship? If he was a new signing we'd all be excited. Also, he handles questions about the team morale and effort very professionally. We need more like him.
Hes not a PL player Id want but wed be stupid to get rid of him in the NPC where hes a proven goalscorer. Who else have we got in the poacher role? A forever injured AJ and a bloke who could end up inside or leave.
I still think that DJ could do a good job in the EPL, in a good team and if he's injury free. I don't really fear much about his injuries but I still think if we were in better shape last season he could have done a good job for us. I still think he's got 12+ goals in an EPL season in him.
Agree definitely keep him. A quality striker at NPC level for sure. If we can manage to hold onto Remy and keep Campbell our strikeforce is looking healthy - for once! And re my other thread about Crouch that would be even better! Remy, Campbell, Crouch, Zamora, Johnson Still not convinced on either Zamora or Johnson though.
Definitely keep for sure. More than good enough for NPC level. Keep him, hold onto Remy, and possibly get Crouch - thats a good forward line!
