Tuned back into England v ROI and the commentator says... a lot of huff and puff for England, but it hasn't really clicked for them tonight.

Remind me of the last time it did really click for England..?

I have just turned the telly on hoping to catch some football only to discover that West Germany are playing the Republic of Ireland. West Germany are absolute **** and we should try to play them asap as it will be a great confidence booster for our second rate team. If we ever play this lot we could win the World Cup.

PS The West German FA have complained to FIFA that England are ruining their good name and reputation for playing great football by wearing their replica shirts.

    Dreadful game!
Really slow pity patty play by England and huff ball by ROI.
AOC having a much better second half although his missed a great opportunity one on one with the keeper.
    Walcott? Pretty much a passenger.
Think Jones at right back is a big improvement on that waste of space Johnson

What? Walcott's been fantastic. Jones is definitely better than Johnson though, yeah. Lampard and Carrick are great, Rooney's done well, Ox has been slightly poor with the decisions, neither Sturridge nor Defoe has been able to have an impact.

Hard to put my finger on why it hasn't really worked out, but there have been encouraging individual performances.

Did Milner really get booed when he came on? Is there no limit to the crass stupidity of England fans?

James Milner epitomises the solid, dependable, work-ethic style footballer who'll represent England forever and a day. And we wonder why England can't win anything.

You can see the progression of supporters reactions to yet another truly ordinary England performance.

Hodgson: "major blow" for Sturridge & Defoe/Welbeck not fit either, but no plans to bring in another striker v Brazil.

    Says it all.
