It is the silly season and there is not a lot of Saints related football to discuss.

I wont, how many seasons have you seen? Season 4 was my fave.

Thanks, you sure are in the know. Will have to check some of these out. I'm ridiculously out of touch.

It was warm and sunny in Hove until about 1. The sea was suprisingly warm.

What are you reading? End of term reports and creative writing notebooks.
What are you watching? New Arrested Development
What are you listening to? The Uncluded - Greatest album ever.
Where are you going on holiday? - The dessert. Or desert. Whichever one has the sand. Then Florida and a brief return to Southampton.
How are you passing the time? - Working for a few weeks, then pretty much exclusively sitting on the beach drinking beer and smoking marijuana.

Oh and while I'm here, who the hell rates a thread?

'This thread is okay, but not great. 3 Stars.'

'This thread was terrible. But then that guy called that other guy a koob. 5 Stars!'

Godders, you seem like a good dude, so y'know what? Have 5 stars on me. Go ahead, take them. You're a master of threadcraft.

If you do nothing else you must go to Oradour-sur-Glane it will change your life.

That's jolly decent of you. I get very little credit but lots of insults so I will grab any encouragement.

PS I rate all my threads 5* when I first post them.

I've just looked it up. We haven't booked our overnight on the way down and usually stay in Tours; I was considering Poitiers this year and looking at the map, this is what we'll do. Oradour-sur-glane is then en route, so we will go there on the Saturday morning. It looks chilling and heart breaking; like the story.

I love Tours and we often stopped there over night on our way south. Don't forget Saumur and Orleans they are also lovely places to visit. I also liked Poitiers and Le Mans is interesting especially the old parts which have featured in many films. If you have never been to Vichy then this is an absolute must for another occasion when you are going further south.

I love France and the driving there is so enjoyable but sadly circulation problems mean I have to avoid sitting in a car for too long.

But for my delightful granddaughters I would now be living in France in a little village just outside of Bergerac.

    Which village?

I'd love to live there. I currently work for a US owned business with my "local" office in Beaune... so you never know!

For our honeymoon, my wife and I booked the first two nights in Paris, and then booked nothing for a week; we just pointed the car and meandered. We headed through the Loire Valley, out towards La Rochelle, down to Bordeaux, over to Medoc and on down to Biarritz. We had hoped to spend the last of the un-booked nights in Carcasonne but some silly bugger forgot that night was 14th July!

Great trip. I love France too. Cue Channon H2O.

I told my 12 year old son earlier about the place and he really wants to visit and understand more. He asked why the German soldiers did it and how? (It's half term btw, so he was allowed to stay up to watch the football, plus his mum and sister are away!)

Oh @lovelocum - if you're looking for something a little more challenging musically, check out Archive (particularly their last album With Us Until You're Dead) - they've been massive in Europe for a while, but despite being English haven't really been picked up on over here. Their last single, in my humble opinion, is really rather beautiful - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wYat-movXNE
