I heard that we're after a CM now which is great news - that area of the park badly requires strengthening.

 

If Gerrard and Lucas are both fully fit and playing we are as good as any one in that area.

Remove Lucas and we loose strength, defensive abilty and link up.

Take Gerrard out and we loose the creativity and leadership.

I disagree - Lucas is still taking time to get back to full fitness and back to his best. I'm sure he will regain that form but still needs competition for his position. Gerrard is another year older and moves slowly around the pitch unless we're playing against Everton or Utd.

IMO - Henderson and Lucas are the most important 'cogs' in our midfield at the moment. As you say, take Lucas out and we lose a DM but if you take Hendo out, then you lose the energy and drive. We then become slow, lethargic, unable to cover ground and we have no strength and bite.

Even with Gerrard, Henderson and Lucas starting, we only have Allen and Shelvey in reserve and it's simply not good enough.

Alonso, Mascherano, Sissoko, a Gerrard in his prime is the benchmark.

he's trying to get dortmund to really bid for him. the ajax guys seem resigned to losing him and they don't seem to be able to sustain the 17mil that was reported last January time. the fee with 12 months to go does seem low to me as well.

it is early in the window however and eriksen and his agent are up for sorting this so LFC need to move fast.
