I think calling them FA is most appropriate! Read how they've treated a top ladies team! http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/22694564
Yes this is scandalous and shows it is all about money - as much as they'd try to deny it. I think our ladies team didn't apply for this division because of the level of investment needed. Hopefully the new format allows promotion and relegation and the two teams swap places (unless our ladies get promoted, of course) It's the same as the EPPP... we have one of the best academies in the country but there is certain criteria you need to go into the top 2 tiers (which is mainly money-orientated), and for the little bit of extra money you will receive when your youngsters are poached from the big clubs, the extra money invested really wasn't worth it!
Good one. Donny were one of the founding ladies teams..... just Bb@@dy money is ruining it just like the men's game.
Regardless of the way this matter has been handled, there must be a few old Horns out there that remember Vic Akers' spell at Vicarage Road - truly dreadful left back with 22 consecutive appearances at the start of our first season in the old Div. 4. As I recall (though I may be wrong) he was one of 2 awful imports from Cambridge Utd (yes, really) - the other being "striker" Brian Greenhalgh who managed to score only one goal in 17 appearances leading to our relegation to Div. 4. Akers, of course, has gone on to be awarded the OBE for services to Arsenal Ladies......perhaps Greenhalgh has been knighted?
Pretty shocking stuff. I have officiated on the WPL and will be adding my voice. Bloody blazers grrrr
