Adidas and Saints have bought up the Clinton's shop in West Quay. You can expect to see them move in there soon.
that's Adidas Originals, its part of the overall adidas company, but they trade on their own and very rarely do they mix with the sportswear side.
Bet you will sweat mate. Polyester is a man made fibre & makes people sweat, there's no getting round it, despite all the phoney science babble sportswear companies come up with. Reason they use it for football shirts is its dirt cheap to produce. Cotton is a much better material, but loses its shape & colours quicker and is more expensive.
Maybe I should get on to ADIDAS and sell them some of my fragrances for use in plastics, they could get it extruded into the Polyester fibres then and I'd smell sweet until I'd washed the shirt 3 or 4 times.
I thought we paid them to design the shirts, and gave them a share of the profits. Might be mistaken there
Think football shirt deals tend to depend on the level your club is at. Pretty sure the likes of Man Utd etc will get paid tens of millions for the right to produce their shirt and on top of that get a sizeable percentage (60%?) for every sale. The volume is so huge, the manufacturer still makes shed loads. At Saints level, its probably a smaller up front payment and a smaller percentage (30-40%?) for sales to us. Lower down the leagues, they simply supply the kit for free and the club is probably only making 15-20% on each shirt sale.
Puma are paying Arsenal £30m a year for the privilege of making their shirts. They're an extreme example of course but I'm sure we are profiting in some way from our association with Adidas. Associating your brand with a premier league football club is extremely lucrative, and why else would we switch from one manufacturer to another unless it meant improved terms for us?
