Stoke have opened talks with Mark Hughes over the weekend.

Finally he may be off our wage bill, sorry stoke fans!

    ----

Stoke have opened talks with Mark Hughes over the vacant manager’s job at the Britannia Stadium.

Sportsmail understands Potters chiefs made contact with Hughes over the weekend about the prospect of taking the reins ahead of next season.
More discussions between Hughes and Stoke are planned for this week. The outcome of those discussions will determine whether Hughes becomes the club’s next boss.

The former Manchester City manager has emerged as chairman Peter Coates’ favoured choice to replace Tony Pulis, who left the club last week.
It is believed Hughes is keen on the job, though his appointment is still a considerable way from being confirmed.

Hughes is known to be looking for a route back into the game after leaving Queens Park Rangers last season due to their disastrous start to the campaign, which eventually saw them relegated.

Brighton manager Gus Poyet and departing Chelsea chief Rafa Benitez have also been considered by Stoke.

But it now looks like Hughes is leading the race to be named as Pulis’ successor.

God help the poor bastards, i'm surprised there is an owner that's as useless as ours in picking a manager.

Surely it must be his agent releasing false info to the fail. I recall we had a lot of stories in the same "paper" while he was here.

Yeah, I really, really wonder how he explains his disastrous, big money signings and his disastrous results at QPR. I can hear him saying "I wasn't given enough time" whereas most of us would say he was given too much time and too much money. Such a miserable b*****d as well.

Coates: "Good morning Mark. You can start your presentation now".

Hughes: " Look into my eyes, look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around the eyes, look into my eyes." Clicks fingers. "You're under! I am the greatest manager that Stoke will ever have."

I wonder.....IF Hughes does go to Stoke do you think he will come back to QPR and bid for some of the players he has left us with??????
Every cloud has a silver lining...........(except if you support Stoke)

In my vivid imagination Hughes is just the sort of sharp-suited, serious Wall Street-type executive that appeals to board members that have come into football off the back of lucrative years in sharp-suited, serious Wall Street-type executive roles. Hughes will always get roles because he looks like the people he needs to impress.

Unbelievable .............. The old adage, 'there's a sucker born every minute' must surely apply to the Stoke board.
Truth is that the only reason 'jellyback' applied for the Stoke job as opposed to a Championship position is that he hasn't the backbone to face us.

AND YES, please take some of the many 'massive' buys that you suckered us with.

That's my expectation. He had a **** time with us, probably because there weren't enough controls put on him, but he's been fine everywhere else.

Hughes will suit stoke, they just seem a good fit. Besides, we will no longer have to pay him the majority of his compensation agreement now which can only be good news (I assume we still have to pay the difference between what we were paying him and what he'll earn at the Brittania - one of the worlds more hateful employment law actions)
