It is the silly season and there is not a lot of Saints related football to discuss.

So how are you passing the time between now and when the first signing occurs?

    What are you reading?
    What are you watching?
    What are you listening to?
Where are you going on holiday?
How are you passing the time?

I'm reading Early Medical Services - Berkshire and South Oxfordshire from 1740 by Margaret Railton.

I'm watching very little as TV is crap this time of year.

I have been listening to the Richard Burton 1950s recording of Dylan Thomas's "Under Milk Wood".

As for a holiday the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov saw her doctor who said she needed a holiday. She has booked herself onto a cruise for the end of June for two weeks and it seems that while she is away I am going into respite care.

I have been passing the time by being as annoying as possible on this board and generally being very bored.

Go and find some good work experience and offer your services to learn for free. Someone will end up paying you and it will stand you in good stead for 5 years time when you need a job.

I will spend it trying to get sex from the wife. I bet the football season comes round first.

Well, I have a job now, but it's 3 evenings a week and an afternoon, so it just leaves me free/bored in the days mainly haha. Back to college in September!

    What are you reading?

Just finished Jane Eyre. I'd like to read the mountain of books I've saved up for the summer but I'll doubtless be given a few Shakespearian plays to read over the summer from college.

    What are you watching?

GoT, Modern Family and The Apprentice.

    What are you listening too?

My constant is the Arctic Monkeys. But at the minute Beirut (i'm also teaching myself the trumpet in it).

Where are you going on holiday?

Nowhere this year :(. Possibly latitude festival if me and my friends can get off our arses.

How are you passing the time?

Not606, reddit, youtube, real life football,"joining" a gym and the occasional party/meet up with my friends.

Unfortunately while the very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov often says yes I struggle to get my leg over anything. I play a very passive role in sex these days. She ties me up with those fluffy handcuffs and has her wicked way with me. Trouble is it doesn't last very long as I have trouble controlling myself. It is like being an over enthusiastic teenager again but rather sadly without the stiffness (and I'm not talking about my joints or my muscles) or the energy. I think I may need some of those testosterone injections that are all the rage at the moment.

Reading (again) Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee - Holiday is doing the 24 hour drudge back to Blighty to surprise my brother on his birthday - Got tickets for day one of the final test at the Oval - flying back on August 25th and hoping the first game is at home before I leave and can get a ticket - leaving the High Command back home so the chances of a leg over have been greatly increased.

Reading: The Generals, by Tom Ricks. It's about the manner in which American military leadership has changed from WWII onward, and what that has meant both for its internal culture (and general ability to win wars), and the effect that the civil-military intertwining has had on American politics.

Watching: Game of Thrones, Mad Men, The Borgias (sometimes), and spy thriller/domestic drama The Americans, which vacillates between being interesting and making me unhappy.

    Listening: Varies.

Holiday: Quaint notion on this side of the Atlantic.

Passing the time: Work, reading, games, the occasional social gathering/alcohol binge. Thinking of taking up online poker again...used to make a decent amount of money, but what a time sink.

Recently, the new albums from Laura Marling and The National.

Where are you going on holiday?

Reading: The last CS Forester Hornblower omnibus edition is proving to be heavier going than the previous books. Halfway through Commodore Hornblower, then it's just Lord Hornblower and Hornblower in the West Indies to go. It has been heavier going since I bought a batch of the Patrick O'Brian Aubrey-Maturin series books, which I'm quite eager to start on.

Watching: As usual, very little indeed. Bit of QI, MotoGP every race, of course.

Listening: I have a huge collection of Radio 4/7/4 Extra audiobooks, plays and series, dating back to 1978-ish. Many of which I've never listened to, so I'm continually having that stuff around. Music wise, there's just so much I love. Like Joe, I ended up listening to a Hendrix album [Axis: Bold As Love] yesterday, but there's been some Beach Boys [Holland and Surf's Up] and I'm back to some acoustic and harp guitar with Andy McKee. If you never heard a Harp Guitar played well I urge you to have a go. Some of the sounds are sublime.

Holiday: I'm hoping to do a fair bit on the Viffer this summer. Pembrokeshire, and Cornwall again. Southern France is still a year or two away. Oh, I might end up in Italy later this year. Haven't been since I visited the relatives years ago.

Passing the time: Work, Not 606, The Net inevitably. Playing the Strat badly. Incidentally, since I dropped my ol' Basher acoustic, broke it and fixed it, I still haven't quit playing the Squier. Crikey, it's so much easier to play because the neck is smaller and such a nice shape. It's no wonder it's the World's most popular electric. I love the SG, but it's neck heavy and the neck shape isn't anywhere near as comfortable. It's far better made though, so I love it, but I think it might end up on ebay. I've got a 1976 Epiphone [Gibson] FT-150 Bard in near perfect condition, with almost exactly the same neck shape and I don't like it. Not the sound or anything. It looks gorgeous, of course, but good looks don't make necessarily make good noises. The Fender isn't going anywhere..!
The rest of the time is seeing friends, talking and laughing.

Reading- Grovel, a book about the 1976 west Indies tour of England.

    Watching- not a lot.

Listening- Wings at the speed of sound, totally underated album. Bit of Willie nelson and steely Dan.

Also checking out a few real ale pubs, whilst trying to avoid mrs ducks " lists"

Reading: The Sixth Man by David Baldacci
Watching: Elementary (not as good as Sherlock, but OK), cricket (and England tonight), Coronation Street (yes, I know, but I have watched for decades), Castle (though getting a bit fed up with it now). Also looking forward to return of Mad Dogs next Tuesday.
Listening: Haven't listened to music since the seventies except in passing in the car.
Holidays: just had week in wet Andalucía, having a week in hopefully sunny Majorca in September, and another week somewhere else in Europe if my friend makes her mind up!!!
Doing: Reading not606, sighing a lot over lack of news, and visiting garden centres to see what I can kill next.
