I knew you'd jump all over that. I don't regard Brtish or Irish as being a race but rather a nationality. I couldn't be bothered to pull Pud up on it.
Technically there are only 5 races I think. But definitions are transient and applied differently. The Irish race have distinctly different genes to the British. Anti Irish racism has its roots in the perception of the Irish as being a different race. More akin to the negro than the saxon. The UN definition of racism would certainly extend to the Irish as would any racially motivated crime in the UK. With that in mind I am comfortable with saying the Irish are a race but I'm not going to fall out with a fellow of the same Irish race as me over it.
