It's stupid to post it on social media, but is it certain that this picture was taken in Britain? A lot of players are away for international friendlies and Cameroon face Ukraine next week, so he might be somewhere that has different gun laws to the UK.
Yeah he was arrested for carrying an offensive weapon and then shows himself in a very postive light by posing with a gun. but it was just because of his race.. absolutely spot on, my arse. I give up
Thats not what I said at all. He wasn't arrested because of his race, he was arrested for carrying a gun, and rightly so. The point i'm making is that I don't think the image of him posing with a gun would have been so newsworthy if he was white. He's done nothing wrong, harmed no-one, had no impact on me, you or anyone who reads The Scum. Its his house, his garden, he can do as he pleases. Its just not worthy news and should hold no interest to anyone.
I don't really see the big deal tbh, what anyone do on their own property is their own business and if he wants to post them pics on instagram (which you have to follow him to see) then he can. Bet if we all had a fake gun we'd all pose and pretend we all 007 or something like that lol. Just a shame the media can make something innocent and make it look worse than it really is and people can be a bit sensitive nowadays.
I think Carrabuh was linking the fact that last weeks dreadful killing was by black people, not that all black people are gun crazed loons. It was a very badly timed to post a photo of your self on twitter posing with a gun especially when you happen to be black! We've had soldiers arrested today for fire bombing a mosque as a reprisal for the killing last week so Bassong needs his ****ing head tested for stirring things up.
What has a man posing with a gun in his own back yard got to do with a man who kills a soldier with a machete. What has a man posing with a gun in his own backyard got to do with Damilola Taylor. He's not stirring things up, its people stirring themselves up over things that have no effect on them whatsoever.
I have to say carrabuh that I broadly agree with you! Unfortunately, these days there is always some tortured soul that is absolutely desperate to be offended!
I wonder how the Sun reported the Mosque bombing by former soldiers? Not even mentioned on the website as far as I can see. That awful newspaper is an absolute joke from the gutter. It causes far more damage to race relations/ gun crime in this country than Sebastian Bassong ever could.
Carrabuh is right so far that really this whole thing is a mountain being made from a molehill, but I don't think it is anything to do with the colour of his skin.
Just found out something even more ridiculous, the photos in question were posted (and removed) before the Villa game, so that's what, a month ago now? It must really be a slow news day, or an attempt to rile people up so soon after the Woolwich murder. Pathetic journalism.
It sums the Scum up perfectly, reporting news as and when it suits its own needs. Just a horrible nasty piece of work.
Broadly speaking, I'd agree and the fact that it's a BB gun highlights that it's actually a complete joke. However, it is undeniable that handgun crime is (or at least is perceived to be) predominantly a problem among immigrant ethnic minorities in Britain. Given that Bassong is undoubtedly a role model for many young people (not just from ethnic minorities) it really is not sensible, even in jest, to be seen endorsing hand guns. Bassong did the right thing in removing the picture, so beyond being a simple lesson in thinking about your position as a role model, this is a non-story.
I'm going to have to disagree with you there carrabuh mate. I feel that if any of our first-team players had posed for these pictures, regardless of colour, tabloids such as The Sun would have run with it anyway.
Even though, as DH pointed out, the pictures were posted a month ago. Its old news made new because of the relevance of recent events. Its exactly how these people work.
The actual incident doesn't particularly offend me, it's the naivety and stupidity he has shown that frustrates me. He was always going to get scruntinised for this and as Carrabuh points out, quite disgustingly the Sun have decided to run the story now following recent events. Saying that I think it's a really stupid thing to have done by Seb, which puts the club under pressure as well as himself, it was always going to bite him one way or another.
I agree carrabuh sorry: just wasn't thinking and with all the racist sexist ****e on this board recently just responded inappropriately
Just seen on the Beeb website, Kyle Naughton has also been pictured with a gun! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-Sebastien-Bassong-pictured-holding-guns.html
