You could be really cheap. If the Dado rail is made from casting plaster just hack so much of it off, Sand it off which should be easy to try and get it flush with the wall. Wouldn't cost you nothing.

It's a ****ty wooden one, don't worry I will try and remember my training. Just weighing up the tools again as I left mine at one of my ex's. I won't be needing them again after probably so just weighing it up. Plus I wouldn't expect you to come over here. <ok>

Well you might not have to do much plastering. It could just be nailed on so you could just use a bit of filler for the holes. If its not and its gone past the plaster don't forget to buy some PVA as what you put on will crack due to the high suction. If the gaps deep use pva and a bit of bonding to fill it out but leave enough left to put you 3mm of plaster <ok> As for tools all you'll need is a bucket, hawk, trowel, brush and if you're feeling lazy a whisk :)

What do you use a hawk for when replacing a dado rail? I thought he might need a sander etc if he can't get the plaster smooth lost count of the number of houses I've moved into where I have had to replace other peoples Destroy it Yourselves.
