You wonder why players are so stupid to do such a thing?! I like the guy but what an idiotic thing to do, did he upload that picture thinking there would be no repercussions?

I honestly cannot comprehend what goes through footballers minds. To be perfectly honest, if I posted a picture of myself on Twitter (If I even had twitter) posing with a replica handgun then I doubt anybody would even notice. But because it is a minor celebrity everybody will be outraged.

I actually can't see how anybody can seriously claim that this will promote gun crime or actually say Bassong has done anything wrong per say, but at the same time Bassong must surely know the reaction he will get for something like this and it is just giving our club bad publicity...

His been an asset for the club this season. It's a stupid thing to do, but we're all human we all make mistakes.

The gun was a replica and nobody has been hurt or threatened. He has upset the general public and dented his reputation, he doesn't need to be hung out to dry after all his one of us. An apology and some PR work for Gun Crime groups would do.

    I sincerely hope it's a replica.

Even so, it is illegal in the UK to have possession of a replica gun in a 'public place'. Obviously Seb is on his own property here so is not breaking the law. However, do people think that in future, flaunting (because that, in my opinion is what he is doing here) a replica gun on social media such as twitter should be punishable at all by law?

Just putting it up for debate, I'm not saying that it is something I necessarily believe or want to happen.

No it probably shouldn't. Using a photo like that in a threatening way is already illegal. Ultimately it's just picture of him holding something he owns legally.

However it's a stupid thing to do. I'm sure people do it all the time it's just not picked up on. He needs to be more aware he's under scrutiny.
I think the club would be wise to do a bit of PR. I line the idea of sending him to work with an anti-gun crime charity.

I really do not see what he's done wrong.

Its only because he's black people are bothered.

If you look at recent gun crime, more in the USA perhaps - and that guy in Norway Breivik, well, he wasn't black? So your point is?

Alright, unfortunately I've bitten at this.

So, for example, if it had been Grant Holt instead of Seb, no one would be bothered?
