I meant this summer, hence only a few months on his contract (maybe even less if it expires in July). Just released on a free

read the comment from a fan at bottom, what do you reckon fellow reds, tempting, no chance, first you have heard of it, certainly is for me, but maybe 2 players lol, well great IF we could get them i suppose if we lost Luis, be some consolation getting quality players in, but would they come, sounds bull to me, but you never know, no dif to the rest.

Genoa midfielder Kucka been linked with us, his a 26 year old holding mid which leads me to think its unlikely we'd be interested, I'm sure Rodgers would rather blood the youth than sign a 26 year old in an already overloaded midfield position, however if he was to come in to play the role instead of Joe Allen (whilst he developed) then that would make sense..

Spain midfielder Isco has suggested a move to Manchester City is possible after he spoke of his desire to follow Manuel Pellegrini out of Malaga.

ANyone else worried at the quality of players we've been linked with so far? Granted rumours could be tosh, but if true why are we look at 25yo+ who have been pretty average for their clubs?? :/

We've been linked with a few good players too. Sturridge wasn't exactly a mouth watering prospect but he suits what we want. A few more similar to him and we'll be back in the top 4 and able to attract that little bit more quality.

As long as we avoid the traps like Williams, we'll be fine

You mean like Kyrgioakos, Alderweireld, Digne, Strootman, Atsu, Erikson, McCarthy, McManaman?

Most of our links seem to be young, exciting prospects to me.

Atsu isn't too impressive, in all fairness, and McMarthy or McManaman aren't going to get me out of my seat either

    The others I like though

I've been pleasantly surprised with the names we've been linked with.

There have been a few duds i.e. Williams but on the whole, there are some encouraging prospects.

My mate told me last week that we're close to signing a 'big' name, but he wouldn't even tell me who, so it could be a genuine possibility. He went for lunch with Ayre and Rodgers last week and was told there, but also told to say absolutely jack **** until he's told he can.

We were swapping texts during the CL final. I said I hope the big name is Hummels. He said Papadopoulos. I said I hoped he was ****ing joking and he said he was. I'll phone him at lunchtime and see if he's ready to spill the beans yet.

To be fair, I would class Kyriakos Papadopoulos as a big name - he's a seriously talented footballer who could solve two problems:

    - Become the towering, physical presence at the back AND
    - He is versatile enough to play as DM (as backup to Lucas)

A highly regard talent around Europe and already has top level experience with Schalke.

Eriksen would be another big name and I would love it if we got him, but it looks as if our interest has cooled down now (big shame).
