Take or reject - £8million? QPR forward Adel Taarabt has been linked with an £8million move to UAE outfit Al Ain. Boss Harry Redknapp is expected to allow a number of players to move on in the summer following QPR's relegation from the Premier League but it is thought he is keen to hold on to Taarabt, who played a key role in QPR's promotion in 2011. However, QPR are thought to be open to offers for all of their players and Al Ain are reportedly keen to partner Taarabt with former Sunderland man Asamoah Gyan. The UAE outfit are ready to test the waters with an £8million move, according to talkSPORT, but it remains to be seen as to whether Taarabt would consider a move to a club outside one of Europe's top leagues
Reject. We have been completely imagine-less without him. How can we replace that ability with 60% of 8 million?
Of course we want him to stay - if we can just pay someone 30K a year to sneak into his house every night and set his alarm 15 minutes slow then we've got him playing for free.
If this is real and Adel is interested would tell us all we need to know about him - he's not interested in a challenge. Somehow doubt that someone who within the last few months has been linking himself with Barca and Milan would actually want to go into semi retirement, but who knows. The way I feel about the current squad I wouldn't worry about any of them leaving. But if he does go we need to replace with another flair player, in the QPR way. And we got him for £1m Roller.
Point is, if we can get him for £1m, we might find another one out there somewhere. Even one who turns up to training on time, isn't fat and doesn't sulk. £8m is, objectively, very generous.
Do you think that either Townsend would come to us and if he did it would be for somewhere around £5 million? I understand what you are saying mate, but those bargains are few and far between. Is Redknapp that much in touch with the current bargains?
The sad thing is that we'll probably have no choice but let him go as the squad is so bloated and full of others we can't give away.
I'd be amazed if a.) Spurs are willing to sell Townsend, b.) they would value him at £5m or less and c.) half a dozen Prem clubs wouldn't be ahead of us in the queue.
The problem is predicting the future. If we can have the Adel of 10/11 then tell them to take a hike. If it is the Adel of last year, bank the £8m by bank transfer ASAP! If anyone knows the answer to this conundrum, perhaps they would kindly post tomorrow's lottery numbers also.
Not sure which parts of this are Harry speak. He does not know how to manage Taarabt and yet he wants him to stay? Really? Let's not forget who sold him to us for £1m. Sad to say I can't see him staying if being Harry's impact sub for the last 10 minutes per game is all that he is going to get next season. Still nice to see someone has at last made a bid for one of our players.
We be idiotic to take that for an player that got us promoted single handedly last time he played in this league. There's at least 15 players we should shift before him.
