Actually I'm pretty sure I heard Pirelli say they were next years tyres. Didn't seem to important to me at the time though so I can't remember where I read/heard that. " they've sneaked around behind everyone's back to hold those tests. " I thought they asked the FIA before hand and they sad yes?
IS the bacalona track near people? cos F1 cars are quite loud, surely someone would one of those screeching round for 3 days after the race and go have a look?
Only McLaren can be happy with Perez, says Alonso “I think really I don’t want to take too much attention on this, because the most important thing of the race is that Felipe is good,” said Alonso when asked about the incident. “The second most important thing is that Rosberg won the race, and then with Perez that he has the car parked at Rascasse. I think that is only comment I can say. “He was lucky this year with two or three incidents, in Bahrain he nearly had contact with Jenson, with me I was off the track to avoid the contact, here I cut the chicane to avoid the contact again. Kimi was not lucky because he didn’t avoid the contact, and at the end he retired. Only McLaren has to be happy with him, all the others we just need to do our work.”
Alonso goes on an increasingly long list of top drivers to criticise his driving. I make that Button, Alonso, Hamilton and Raikkonen now. Just needs Vettel to complete his set of world champions. I admire his spirit, but he needs to tone it down a bit.
I'd admire him going for moves if it wasn't "Let me through or I'm taking you off". Take Hamilton's attempt at Rascasse, it was firm, fair, and didn't put Webber under undue risk of a collision. The same can be said of most of Sutil's moves, and Di Resta's into turn one. It's also possible to overtake going into that chicane without risking both drivers races, but in the last move in particular he was far too far back to make the pass safely.
Also, has anyone seen the on-board footage of Kimi's charge at the end? From what I've been told it was pretty impressive, although Bottas doesn't cover himself in glory. Apparently he moves over thinking Kimi's about to lap him. If anyone's managed to find a clip I'd be curious to see that one.
Alonso was already on there from China. And Bahrain I think. Wouldn't be so bad if Perez was in GP2 driving like that, or at the back of the grid with all the other ****wits, he should never be clashing with drivers challenging for the championship though. The thing that really annoys me is his mentality, he has zero respect for anyone else on the grid, at least with Grosjean it's because he's hopeless and at least has the decency to be contrite afterwards. McLaren not only backing him but encouraging him to be increasingly aggressive really riles me.
He certainly harmed Kimi's chances of scoring more championship points. Points that are quite vital nowadays I might add.
Interesting radio there, cheers AG! I only heard the first part on the broadcast. Have to admit, I think Vettel has a point. If I was the team, I'd let him keep going for them, but with the understanding that if he bins it or costs the team any points from trying, then he's no longer allowed to. It's clearly something he enjoys doing, and if the price of keeping your driver happy is a little extra wear on a seemingly bullet-proof car, then I think that's a sacrifice worth making.
Where does that argument end though? If a driver has a reputation for hospital-pass moves, his unsafe attempts at overtakes are allowing him to make progress where safer drivers wouldn't. Sutil and others showed that it's possible to overtake safely around Monaco, you just have to be clever and catch the other driver out. Giving a driver the option of going off the track or colliding with you isn't the way overtaking should be done in my book.
Agree completely. There's a reason you don't see the top guys making moves like Perez has been this season.
