Two in hunt for Shola.. seriously.

Whilst I love Shola, I think if we could move him on for £2m I think it would be good business.
I can't see him wanting to go but with only the year left on his contract I think the decision may be taken out of his hands.

News today that a couple of Championship clubs could be keen to take Shola Ameobi this summer.

Shola Ameobi – could seek move this summer

There is some uncertainty surrounding the future of Shola at his home town club, and it seems to be coming from the player himself, who not surprisingly wants more playing time, which he will not get at Newcastle in the next couple of seasons.

Middlesbrough and Sheffield Wednesday are the two Championship clubs who are interested in the 31 year-old striker, and Ameobi could do very well in the Championship, with his powerful play up front.

We’ll have to wait and see if Shola wants to leave the club he has played for since 2000, when he made his debut under the great Bobby Robson, when Shola was just 18 years old.

But he has had a chequered career at Newcastle and didn’t play much at all this year, and with Newcastle likely to bring two new strikers in this summer, and Adam Campbell coming through the ranks quickly – the future doesn’t look all that bright for the big man.

Shola has one year left on his contract, and Newcastle could probably get up to £2M for their long term striker, and that fee could be used towards the couple of strikers the Magpies want to recruit thuis summer.

 

I personally would give him away! He should go to Sheff Wed (only as I prefer them over 'boro)

 

Shola does need to move on if only to give Campbell more minutes on the pitch next season.

 

I'd say thanks for the efforts Shola, and thanks for being not a pick of bother. I too would give him a free transfer and let him have more say in what he does next.

 

I think we should keep him for the final year of his contract and then let him go on a free.

He'd be useful to have around when the inevitable injury crisis grips us once more.

 

He is a ****ing parasite, good riddance to him if he goes but we all know he won't. I doubt he wants more playing time as damn near every time he has come on this season he has embarrassed himself

 

He's been a loyal enough servant but time moves on and so do we.

Good luck to him wherever he goes.

Granted he has had it but I would still keep him as its like selling Leon best not top notch but better then thin air as fat mike never replaced him in the summer and I can see it happening again

That kind of comment is probably best reserved for leaches who would rather bleed us dry than do a thing for our cause. Not for local lads. Surely?

 

He's not on big bucks fella so he's far from being a parasite IMHO.
As a bloke I love home to bits, it's just we cannot carry passengers any more.

 

Done nowt in the last derby except send a diving header 50 yards wide haha, seriously though as a mackem I'll be glad to see the back of him. The ideal senario for us would be to buy him then loan him back to the toon so he couldn't play against us haha

 

He's awesome at Championship level. His record in the CC season was almost a goal a game for us.

 

Sounds good, I guess you'd pay half his salary too.

I remember watching him against Plymouth in the cup - **** me, the old guy next to me walked along the stand quicker than Shola did!

 

Sell him please. If we don't sell now, I don't see us selling him ever.
