Dylan Hartley, Northampton, England and Lions hooker, has been handed an eleven week
ban for verbally abusing the referee in Saturday's rugby union final.

He'd had an earlier warning from the referee.

What I think is good is that the RU dealt with the incident so promptly, and put aside
all considerations of how it would effect the Lions tour.
Do you think the FA would have dealt with a similar incident in the same way?!

A few eleven week bans for dissent in football would work wonders for matchday discipline!

Good on em a footballer (from the premiership ;)) wouldn't even get a eleven week ban for mass murder. Looks like this guy will have to keep his gob shut from now on.

    rugby union:
verbally abusing the REF = 11 week ban.
(obviously 1 game a week is 11 games missed and 2 games a week is 22 games missed so depending on how many games a week is played i guess it will be somewhere in the middle).

    football:
racial abuse towards another player = 8 game ban.
biting the ear of another player = 10 game ban.

    world gone mad!

i do like how the officials are respected in rugby. refs certainly dont take any crap. meanwhile our refs look like they will crap themselves at times!
