Not had it since I was a bairn. It's basically sausages in batter isn't it? Doesn't sound too appealing, even though I am Scottish and we'll eat anything that's been deep fried, in batter or otherwise. Cheese tatties. That's mair like it
I'm with you. Deeply unpleasant and butternuts are no laughing matter. Having said that, surely everyone likes a bit of hot sausage...................
ST.... What the hell are cheese tatties? Are they deep fried, oven cooked???? Yrs in confusion etc..............
A simple dish of cheese, tatties, salt and a little cream. Boil potatoes, add cream and cheese of choice, season and mash together. Place in dish, sprinkle cheese on top and grill until the cheese crisps up. Ultimate in comfort food ps I forgot about pepper. Lots of pepper.
ST... Thanks for that. Cheese of choice is Canadian Cheddar. Have got madame midupper on the case. Beer anyone?????
Toby I've gone off the Quorn sausages and never liked the Linda McCartney ones. I used to make my own sausages with sosmix but it's hard to find these days.
The Cauldron ones are pretty good. My Mum used to make them herself with lumps of pre-fried tofu and cashew nuts, amazing!!
Aye, the Cauldron ones are okay. And, aye, the sausage rolls are good but the sausage "meat" in them is different from the normal sausages. midupper I would recommend a blonde beer to go with the cheese tatties. It's quite a heavy dish so you need a light beer to accommodate it. Might one recommend an organic Orkney Corncrake ale if one can get their hands on it?
