I think how a player is defined as a 'punt' differs from your own views. I suppose if you aren't a follower of the foreign Leagues, you'd be more likely to class the player as a punt whereas if, like OLM, you know what that player is like, it wouldn't be.

I'd class a 'punt' as spending some significant money on an unproven striker (i.e. Nick Proschwitz).

<laugh> I've been out on the boozer and have missed the majority of the argument. Thought I'd try and help everyone have some neutral ground <ok>

It's May, we don't even know which team is joining us in the PL yet. We'll be looking at players, sure, but don't expect somebody to sign until the middle of June at the VERY earliest (although you might see Elmo come in)

Would be very happy with Alonso as he's very highly rated and pops up with the occasional goal, him and Dudgeon could battle it out for LB allowing Brady to move forward.

I'll take a punt and suggest that you mean The Wheatsheaf?

How can you class that as a punt, do you even care about Hull City?

Just a case of the papers linking us with everybody and anybody at the moment.

Think we've been linked with most of Reading and Wigans teams already

And we've got another month before anyone is officially signed, then we've then got the trickle down effect for some clubs and players. But if we are going down the route of signing unknowns from overseas as Bruce did at Wigan then the trickle down probably won't affect us as much

I've heard that Tom Cairney is a target for both Bournemouth and Yeovil, who were promoted to the Championship this year. The former are looking to buy and Yeovil want him on loan. Not sure how good my source is, I don't hear from him very often and the last time he told me anything was when Martin Pusic was coming in on trial, which to be fair turned out to be true.

Regarding Forster, he'd cost a fair bit, but it'd really improve his England chances if he was playing in the Premier League and he's a very, very good goalkeeper. If the price was right he'd be fantastic.

Didn't we nearly get Forster at the start of the 11/12 season, but got Mannone instead?

All my mate said was that we'd been watching a player from Celtic his source didnt give him a name, he just said at a guess its Forster due to our keeper situation could be anyone from Celtic really.

I like Paddy McCourt as it stands, well thought he'd be a good signing for us in the championship not sure if hes got the ability for the premiership, pretty similar to Boyd and Aluko too.

Even though Bruce is "On Holiday" I am sure he has sneaked his mobile phone into his case without his missus knowing, secret calls to agents whilst on the ****ter and all that.
Sure we have got some already signed up.

Wonder how much we'l be saving in wages with the 12 players were releasing.

How much was Oli really on i heard 26k a week, couple that with Simpson on 12k a week and its a fair old whack just those two.
