Ooh yay energy drink stories. A few years back a friend and I flew to Spain on a whim, and hadn't slept for a couple of days before the flight. Between us we quickly knocked back a 6-pack of Red Bull in departures before getting on the plane. Obviously that was a bad idea, and we were both in very strange moods when we arrived in Spain. We both had mini panic attacks wondering "why the **** are we in Spain?!" and for the rest of the day our moods would alternate between that and the horrible shaky downtime that RSS described. We tried to shake it off and explore the town, but ended up sitting in a bar with our heads in our hands for most of the day. 15 hours of sleep fixed the problem nicely though.
Yeah lots of energy drink combined with a serious lack of sleep is a bad mix. In the 48 hours leading up to my dissertation hand in I had no sleep and multiple cans of energy drink. I managed to get my dissertation handed in on time (just), but felt so awful, was in a bit of trance like state I guess. Oh and there was a guy who always had energy drink during exams. Thought that a bit weird. Even I, a self professed energy drink-aholic, avoided it during exams.
Fairly similar to my experiences. I went 60 hours with probably 1-1.5 hours of sleep back in undergrad while trying to write two major papers, sustained by several energy drinks...more than I might have been otherwise, because I ran into the Red Bull sales team (they had a Cooper Mini with an inflatable can on the roof) while picking up a four-pack, and they decided that this entitled me to some free stuff, namely another four-pack. Completed both papers with minutes to spare, but after class while driving the fifteen minutes back to my apartment (a truly terrible idea) I chanced across a friend and offered him a ride home. He lived two streets from where I picked him up; apparently, it was ten minutes of me circling town in a complete daze before he asked whether I had any idea where I was going. Or where I was. Got an A+ on the law paper, though, complete with a note from the judge who taught the class that I had a future as a lawyer. I still don't remember writing it.
I bet Nicola would love to change our crest...probably makes him cringe every time he sees it. He probably feels that if he gets us to the CL, we may not whinge too much.
In fairness the crest was designed by a schoolchild in the 70's. I hope we dont change it though as i have it tattooed on my leg, then again i also have the original crest (city of Southampton crest) on my other leg.
New thread coming on ... what would we change it to, if it has to be changed? The only thing I can imagine is the Liebherr Bear
Whilst I like the Leihberr bear (after all he resembled a teddy bear), it doesn't evoke Southampton to me.
I wouldn't be devastated if it went monochrome like on the program's etc. it is a bit busy with all the colours.
I think we should incorporate some maritime history, get rid of the tree and change the colour scheme a bit. So my suggestion is... please log in to view this image
Apart from the 125 year anniversary badge the last change would have been the football on our badge. Before it was a 70's style football and now its the more mordern 90's style football lol.
A few years back I had a 2 hour long exam (plus extra time for medical reasons) and before the exam, I quickly drank a can of relentless. First hour or so I was on a real caffeine high and really buzzing and writing away like crazy, however roughly half way in I had a massive caffeine crash and the rest of the exam was a complete struggle. I managed to get a B in that paper though so it was all good.
