Ward on signings: "It is quiet, and in a way that is quite pleasing, as there has been a lot of change over the last two close seasons. We have been able to calm it down a little bit. We have got a good squad to start back with, and then we will take it on from then. I am not really anticipating a major singing or anything special between now and that period." Ward on Mildenhall: "I am hopeful Steve will come back. We have made a good offer to him and it is an ongoing process. Steve lives in this area and has his family this side of the country, so we hope that will influence things. He had a great time here and enjoyed the football and he got involved with some of the coaching work with the young keepers." Ward on O'Toole: "I am a fan of John Joe OâToole and I would like to see him back here, but his performances when he was here attracted quite a lot of attention. He did extremely well. I have known him since my time at Colchester, and he wants to play at a higher level than League Two, but that doesnât rule us out completely and he knows of our interest." Ward on having a young squad: "It is a young squad. We do need that midfield senior player, and John Joe fits the bill there. It is something that needs to be done but it is not an immediate priority as I want to exhaust the John Joe option first. We have a few players who will be back fit to add strength to the squad. The young players will have benefited from what happened over the last period of the season, where they developed well, and if they can improve this football club could have a good stable situation over the next two or three seasons." Ward on search for new assistant: "I havenât spoken to anybody. I have discussed names and numbers with people like Marcus and the Chairman, but I havenât approached anybody at this moment in time. I have a couple of names in mind that I am not certain about at the moment. I have got to get it right, and that is something I have to pay a lot of attention to." Slight concern on the senior midfield requirement as JW is happy to wait for JJOT who wishes to play at a higher level than L2 sounds sensible on the one hand however it also sounds as if he would wait to pick JJ up on loan again. Sounds also if JW is waiting for JJOT to get desperate and sign for us. It appears to leave all the cards in JJ's hands as we def cannot start with our current midfield lineup as its not strong or experienced enough it will be like the end of the season leaking goals and the start of last season woefull. a tackling midfielder in the j.j. mould is a must.also a g.k.is needed but are easier to get ...priority is to sign j.j.
spine of the team is very important. mcchrystal has signed, just leaves the GK and CM and possibly a speedy CF. other positions can wait as need to build a team around the spine of the team.
