That said, this defeat actually was a blessing, as we got the season after, which was just fantastic for us all, multiple 7-0 wins, packed stadium bouncing every week, every match was like Christmas Day that season!

 

What a match. Mendonca destroyed us that day, still get anxious watching that match, even though i know the outcome!

i remember watching that game in a pub in maida vale as couldn't get ticket. and ended up watching it in the sutherland with some bird whose fella was a sunderland fan and at the match. bizarre ****ing day, royally smashed but we came back stronger......hey ho. whatever happened to Mendonca?
