Appalling incidents like this don't help the matter. This futile war we've landed ourselves in has only led to global mistrust and animosity, articles like these make me sick because they go a long way in explaining the motives behind these jihadists. We're our own worst enemy here, this isn't a case of the goodies vs the baddies, it's just a case of responding to needless violence with even more needless violence, where often the victims are the ones who don't deserve it.

Well it was a 'hate' crime, whichever way up you look at it, and should be dealt with accordingly.

Btw Tobes, and as I'm banned from the Utd board (<grr>), come on, you don't REALLY think lawrenson is a Liverpool fan do you? FFS, he's tipped United to win the legue EVERY season since he's been at the BBC, and his performance on MotD after the Anfield game against United was so far up Falsy's arsehole we had to rely on Gary Neville on Sky for some sort of unbiased commentary.

I hate it when people try and force views on you that you should care about the problems these people face in their own country and not just the ones on our own doorstep.

They are killing themselves more than our missiles and rockets are. In these countries, 1000s of Muslims are dying at the hands of these extremists more than the bombs and bullets of our allies. We should just pull out, let them complain about us just standing by and watching them wallow in their own filth, just like Syria have accused us of. I would rather stand by and watch than be called murderers for being there.

I was quite taken aback by their faux concern over women seeing this slaughter, and those in their own country - yet they shoot teenage girls in the head for asking for an education.

I was over in Liverpool to see the anniversary parade for the battle of the Atlantic. What I saw was the quintessential definition of nationalism and community. Pride in a nation without hate towards another, pride for those who served without judgement of those who opposed and gratitude from those that were helped.

What's more, it wasnt just white British who were there, people from all walks were getting involved.

It was great too see. If anyone wants to talk about oppression and murder they need to have a look at what they would be facing if they didn't have help. Not so much Afghanistan, thats a different situation.

It is unforgivable that innocent civilians are killed by anyone, not just the UN, as Zingy said, some of their own regimes need to be sorted before anyone points the finger at anyone else.

There are 11.5 million European and west Asians who would have benefitted from earlier intervention in the 1930s.

The EDL........ they are no more the voice of our country than extremists are of Islam.

I think Luv was there too, might have bumped into him without knowing JC.

Agree with the last line totally. The EDL have just as bad views as these extremists, except they are less likely to go to the same lengths to make a point. It's all very knee jerk in the aftermath of these events, a lot of generalisation. "It's all the Muslims' fault" "It's all Britain and America's fault" etc. It's all down to the few individuals at the end of the day. That soldier who murdered the Afghan kid is no different from the terrorists.

I work in Islamic countries from time to time and they come across as friendly people, I have a few friends who are muslim. When they go home to their wives and children, they probably treat them as what we would consider disrespectful and sexist. That is my biggest gripe with this religion, I will not judge them all under the same brush because of a few angry sick individuals.

The strict nature of the Islamic faith means that it is easier for vulnerable young men to be brainwashed into violence and 'revenge' in the name of their god, which to good and true Muslims is against what they stand for. They are betraying and damaging their own faith more than anyone else at the end of the day.
