We are in for a real treat today people. Terrible qualifying for "team Lewis", having to start "9th" which is a season worst for Lewis so far. The British wonderboy has his work cut out for himself today, having to try and overtake some of the big names in F1. At a track..............Well (pause) we all know the legend it's nere damn bloody impossible!! Will he make Britain proud? will he make Senna proud? will he make McLaren proud getting them out of the ****?, or will it come crashing and burning in the first few laps? Will I ever bother to check my grammer and spelling????? Make your choice! Where will he finish?
I'm going to be realistic and say points finish, it seems a very hard track, and very tight at places, overtakes will be the most dangerous and the most tempting here.
I'm going to Wonderland it and say this will be a legendary drive from Hamilton - under pressure, 9th on the grid, obviously unhappy but he'll get his head down and show us what he's got. I don't believe it but I'm going to say it.
Going by relative pace, and the fact hat he will have a choice of tyre plus the high chance if a safety car then I think he will beat Alonso
I think he will DNF, look at Monza 2010, similar position where he had qualified badly due to making a mistake.
I think thats a possibility. Being stuck behind slower cars on a track where you can't pass may frustrate him into an error.
I still don't know about Hamilton - he's not exactly careful, and unless he benefits from a safety car, I can't see him finishing any higher than 6th. If he takes too many risks, he might even DNF - for example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZmerXf4188 I wouldn't surprised if Hamilton tries an overtake there - which won't end well.
Lewis knows it will be difficult to overtake, im sure if there is no chance of a pass he wont risk it. If he gets a good start and makes a couple of places I think he could get 4th or 5th.
The McLaren seems very good on it's tyres, I think he'll make a couple of places at the start, and a couple of saftey cars will help out, and 1 less tyres stop will see him move up. Agree with north north Watford, DNF or podium, so i'm going for a podium. A chance for him to show some maturity
He won't benefit from a different tyre strategy though. Either he starts on super softs, prays that he gets infront of Maldonado and nico on the first lap and just follows the drivers ahead, then goes on the prime/option early compared to the rest and maybe get the undercut, he then has to pray again for a safety car to close the gap which he will surely have lost at the start and at maximum being behind Schumacher for 5th-6th, now the big problems with going up against Alonso..... He has to go on super softs to keep up, if he goes on softs he has to pray for early and late safety car, and yet I haven't included the likes of petrov and kobayashi taking a dive at him early on.
In terms of it being "a legendary drive from Hamilton" I think I got it spot on. This was a race that will be long remembered.
Brilliant result for Lewis Sixth despite 2 penalties and getting crashed into And he took massa out Button had a great chance to win and couldn't, could only gain a few pints over Lewis despite his miserable weekend Alonso likewise couldn't overtake vettel Lewis is the only one able to beat Sebs red bull
