.......would they take a look at how many goals Rickie has scored with Ramirez in the side (per game), and how many with him out of the side. My gut tells me it might be quite revealing. With all this (continued) should we or shouldn't we, it might be rather interesting.
Here you are then: Gaston on pitch Villa (H) Villa (H) QPR (A) Norwich (H) Fulham (A) Villa (A) Chelsea (A) Liverpool (H) Gaston not on pitch Man C (A) Man U (H) Stoke (A) Wigan (A) Newcastle (A) Chelsea (H) Stoke (H) Gaston on pitch 8 v Gaston not on pitch 7
Oh of course he did, sorry. I thought it was per game for some reason. To be fair one was a penalty though.
So were some of the others, plus the free kicks against Liverpool and Chelsea. But I was only answering the question! It might be worth looking at the total goals scored with Gaston on the pitch, not just Rickie's goals. I'll do that if I have time.
21 goals for the team with Ramirez on the pitch this season. 28 without him. He played roughly half the season (49.4%) if you go by minutes played. Minutes per goal for team (minimum 10 goals for team when playing): With Puncheon on pitch (34 goals) - 60.7 minutes per goal With Davis on pitch(30 goals) - 69 minutes per goal With Lallana on pitch(32 goals) - 70 minutes per goal With Rodriguez on pitch(29 goals) - 75.2 minutes per goal With Ramirez on pitch(21 goals) - 80.5 minutes per goal
I was (hoping) thinking that potentially Rickie would have scored an appreciable percentage more when Gaston was playing. Not all about assists, but about pulling defenders away, influencing team style and creativity. If only to quieten down the doubters a little.
Oh well done, saved me a job! I guess that shows his contribution hasn't been as effective as we would have wanted given the transfer fee. BUT, I remain confident he will turn things round following a full preseason and maybe some quicker runners to play balls through to.
A nice idea, but the stats are obviously inconclusive. Hopefully he can stay injury free next season and try and recapture some of that form from his Bologna days. Something tells me that Poch isn't a big fan though.
Well it's a crushing 8-7 victory for Ramirez..... that's it, debate over. He's great and he stays. Close thread
I did a bit of research myself, and found that Gaston scores a hell of a lot more when he is on the pitch. Telling that when he is playing, he has scored five goals. When he isn't, he's scored zero - just as I thought...
