http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...stian-Benteke-calls-on-Arsenal-to-make-a-move I know paper talk should be taken with a massive pinch of salt, but this doesn't exactly look great...
2 Belgian want-aways! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2013/may/24/christian-benteke-aston-villa I'm gonna break tradition and agree with hbic on something ...Michu. I'm not going to stick my neck out and say he is, but he could well be another one season wonder, it has all the hallmarks of another Jelavic, the Toffee a few were creaming over during his purple patch and what a dismal season he's had since. I know you can pluck an odd gem from obcsurity, but up until he was 26 he spent most of the time in the equivalent of our Championship. Take nothing away from the lad for his first season here, but I got the feeling he was tapering off a bit toward the end of the season, not as influential. There are factors to consider of course, the post League Cup syndrome, first demanding PL season...or maybe defences are wising up to the new boy. He will be afforded special attention next term, and will also have to adjust to a Thur/Sun football week, so that will tell me if he's a 20m+ player or not. You could easily argue similar for Benteke, but he's 5 yrs younger and has made a similar impact but in a different way, he was questioned to begin with, Darren Bent saga an all that, and was a little slow to start with, but he came through all that, grew as the season progressed showing good character and belief in his own ability, despite being a quiet unassuming lad, a good sign. Michu arrived with a bang, and fell away a bit, not such a good sign.
Does 'tapping up' not exist anymore? Big back page of the Sun yesterday with some Real player saying it would be great for Gareth to go there! All I can say is I hope Dembele and Verts have a word with Benteke.
Coentrao demanding a move...probably wants a move to Chelsea with Maureen or it could add fuel to the Bale fire with a cash plus Coentrao deal.
I really hope that we don't move for Benteke, now. He looks a quality player and a big prospect, but he'd be stirring things up within a season and pushing for a move. Pass. Coentrao might be worth picking up though, if we can get him for a reasonable amount. I think he's fallen foul of the anti-Portuguese sentiment at Real, though I could be misreading things.
Hands up all those who got waylayed when selecting that link by this link http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/2013/may/21/lars-von-trier-nymphomaniac-body-doubles
Lambert is talking tough - " he's got three years left on his contract" etc. it all says to me that even if he could be prised away, the price would be too high.
Not a very classy way of going about it though, Drogs. He doesn't even know how they'd react to a bid yet, so why go public? He would've been better off speaking to Lambert and letting him know his feelings. I'm sure his agent would've let the word out anyway, but now he looks like a scumbag.
He wasn't locked in a room and forced to sign for Villa, like Mikel at United If you sign a long term contract you are solely blame if you change your mind a year later without any clauses in your contract to help you leave. You can't blame him for wanting to leave if a big club comes in but you can blame him for talking about it and showing a lack of respect to a club that were willing to invest and put faith in him when these bigger clubs weren't. Fortunately his agent seems very grounded, he's not looking to cause any problems with Villa and said Benteke's happy there and regrets his client's comments.
Apologies didn't read the article and wasn't aware no interest had been shown towards Villa. I agree, not very respectful
Not sure how serious it is and whether the repercussions if proved may involve a ban, but it is on the BBC website that Andros Townsend has been reported for breaching Betting rules.... Might mean we are definitely in the market for another winger.......
Harry Redknapp is interested in taking Adam Smith to QPR. Liverpool have asked to be kept informed of Steven Caulker's situation at Spurs.
'No' x2 - easy response for the club, hopefully..... With expletives to emphasise the point possibly!!
Again? I thought this might happen after Williams decided to join the Goons. Tell them to piss off and actually play him regularly in our next campaign, please.
So Mouts to Monaco has been confirmed for 25m, with Rodriguez going along for the ride (and another £45m) so that's the end of him in the fantasy Spurs line-up for next season!!!
â¬70mil is a ridiculous amount of money for those two. Porto must have thought that 50 Christmases had come at once!
I genuinely don't know who the new creative player is going to be. I thought it was going to be 1 of eriksen or moutinho, but it's not going to be either by the looks of things. More creativity and more goals needed from midfield. Anyone got any realistic ideas?!
We were never going to sign him as we would never meet their price. At least we won't have to go through months of speculation with it all breaking down and signing a cheapskate at the last minute ,
