If I was to rank our midfield in order right now I would say: Gerrard Lucas Coutinho Henderson Allen Shelvey Suso edit: oops this was meant to be an edit of my post above.
In terms of importance, I would class Henderson and Coutinho higher than Gerrard. Hendo provides the legs and energy, while Coutinho brings the creativity.
True but Lucas is the glue that holds it all together. Look how we calapsed last year once he got injured. We can cope without others

look i think next season i would like to see gerrard told he's a 70min man unless its a "big" game and someone like shelvey or suso etc being given the chance to come in. Gerrard needs to rest, and be preserved so when the big game comes we're seeing his best. Lucas has a lot to prove to me that he's getting back to his form which is all based on being able to get there. right now slapping into the back of someone on 4mins and asking the ref for a favor is not great. For me we need to examine three things... how to get coutinho involved centrally, how to get sturridge or another forard to play as genuine 9 (not suarez) and finally where to fit suarez. I quite fancy a 4-2-3-1 again. Rodgers would need to change his 4-3-3 with wide forwards to accomodate coutinho, gerrard, suarez and sturridge.
I think he needs to be told. he needs to be taken off and preserved to play his best when needed not running about v west brom or qpr.
