First of all MON signed him and then didn't play him. If i am right he signed on the 31st Jan. His first appearance came in March. And he admitted he was questioning his ability, as well as that he didn't play a lot for Swansea because of Michu which is totally understandable.

He has had to play the lone front man, as well as having games without service and us down to 10 men, so understandably his touch and ability will be a bit rusty.

I remember Crouch for Liverpool went 19 games ( i googled it) without scoring. Now imagine the service from Gerrard and co and still not being able to score. But Liverpool fans remained behind him. Forlan was not to dis-similar for Man Utd, but their fans remained behind him.

Now rather than us hounding him out, why not give him a chance to shine, and back him.

I think its a little unfair given he has played only 11 games about the amount of criticism that he gets. His work rate has massively improved under PDC, and so will his quality. We have seen glimpses, that is all.

So lets judge him, when we have 10 men on the pitch, and when we start providing him with some service. If after more games next season he is missing chance after chance, and proving he cant hit a barn door then fair enough. But here is to hoping he starts to hit the ground running, and is able to forge a partnership with Fletcher.

Lets not be fickle and back our player to the best that we can.

The one thing he's has going for him is that he can create himself a chance from nothing. he's managed that a few times and put it straight at the keeper every time. Bad positioning, slow, bad finisher. He's been lazy and disinterested the last few games which tells me he's saying to Paolo stuff your training regimes that will make me a better, fitter player, just sell me.

So I think we should oblige.

He's a striker who hasn't scored a goal, if we can get £4m for him, I wont miss him.

Admittedly he did a few good moves with Wickham against spurs, but he also fluffed a few shots as well.

He is too slow imo, and isn't physically imposing enough to counter it.

As long as he plays in a Sunderland shirt, I wont boo him but if Di canio decideds to sell I wont shed any tears.

PdC won't carry passengers, so he's either (a) good enough or (b) outta here.

    We'll see...

If we can get £4m fro him I'll drive him to Cardiff personally. He isn't going to push us on ion any shape or form and I'd rather have 2 new pacy forwards to fight with Fletcher and Wickham next season.

    Simple.

He's a substandard footballer who we paid way over the odds for.

Agreed. If the offer is there take it but might be worth waiting till the next window.
    Mixed feelings tbh.

give the lad a chance he's low on confidence and who can blame him with every man and his dog on his case.let him have a full pre season with pdc and see how he goes i reckon he needs a goal then he'll start scoring for fun.lets be honest messi would'nt have scored in those 11 games thats how bad we were so has i said give him a chance

Sorry but I'd sooner we take the £4m if offered and use it towards a far, far better striker altogether than struggle on with a lame duck only to take half that amount in 12 months time.

Way to slow and looks overweight aswell. He looks disinterested and on top of that he's missed at least 3 sitters. Get rid...

He did a job for us in the closing stages, and that should be respected by all Sunderland fans who can look beyond the nil by goals statistic. He was a willing runner who played his part in our (against the odds) survival.

Going forward in to next we need to think bigger and better though
Thanks Danny but both us and you would benefit from the change

Come in Sunderland Whipping Boy number...............................your time is up.

Lets just see what PDC does and get off the lads back.(I have got no chance there have I - the jackals are scenting blood)

I heard all these things said about Don Hutch when he first came, we could go though the entire team and apply some of the descriptions that have been applied to DG and justify getting shot of them too - nobody covered themselves in glory, however he always gave 100% - not everyone did, if anything he tried too hard as he knew he has a monkey in a black and white shirt on his back.

He was in for a hard time when Fletcher got injured and the team was really struggling from them on, never the best time for a new player, let alone someone who is not an out and out striker being asked to pick up that mantle with little or no service, let alone of any quality.

Fact of the matter is that I didn't see anything from him at all that made me think that there is better to come frm the lad. Admittedly it wasnt easy for him with the way the team were playing etc but he was the wrong signing at the wrong time and we need better imo.
I also dont think he is a PDC type player anyway...

Happy to go with what PDC decides.

If he goes who would be the next player, for our own team, that we want to undermine and dismiss?

It looked like it was going to be Colback yet he proved a few sages wrong on here didn't he?

As I said, if you use the same rules to judge other players then there will be a whole host to get rid of, problem is,(time for a reality check) what makes you think we can attract better players?

Look at the players that have been available, from Crouch(how many times did we try to sign him?) to Adam, N'Zogbia to Jerome- we have not been in with a sniff, players we should be after don't want to come.

Yes we signed Johnson - we should have realised something was up when no bugger else was in for him.

Cuellar - they were queuing up for him weren't they

Yet when we sell decent players they tend to be picked up by other Premiership clubs(Henderson, Bent, Whitehead, Jones, Delap, Higginbotham, Delap, Richardson, Turner) -

In all seriousness we should be grateful that a striker for a Premiership team higher than us in the league actually deigned to sign for us and give up a Wembley appearance, cup winners medal and European football, I do not believe Swansea wanted to sell him yet he came.

Good to see we recognise what he gave up and that we can truly say we gave him a good chance to prove himself.........................

Be warned, players who leave us for another Premier league clubs normally achieve more than if they stayed, whether it be league positions or european football.

There is a large dollop of devils advacado(sic) at play here,so don't bite too hard lads...................
