Jonny, I think you need to accept that a lot of people don't view him in the same light as you. The reason he was capped so many times is because of his consistency and you can't take that away from him. He had very admirable traits that I wish a lot more footballers had consistency, passion, work rate. He then made a name for himself in england from a number of reasons, most of which were away from football. Any club he went to after scum was basically for shirt sales imo and not for his ability. I wouldn't be able to name 1000 players that would be better than him over their whole career but I could certainly name 1000 players that were better at the peak of their career so I guess it sort of depends what parameters you want to put on it. He is not a legend though by any stretch

Now I presume it was'nt directed at me, but for someone who is nearly 50 the days of being jealous are well over... When were you last here? I think things may have changed since then. It is not hard to see why this is the case. I travel on a regular basis and it is not unusual to see these larger people drinking very large milkshakes and scoffing huge burgers with all sorts of bad stuff heaped on them. Amazing to me that people let themselves go like that.

What you need to accept is that, as well as the fact that some people will always disagree with you on this, you also need to accept some will agree with you - like me. It is all opinion, for me he was not a truly great player, but top 1000, of course he was. He was a good player and top 1000 certainly, just not a "top 10/top 50 even" great one. On losing the ball - Revie said that Bremner and Giles lost it all the time in midfield (its true too, they did), and the defence would get it back and say "have another go" (also true, though the whole team would fight to get it back, not the defence). So would not criticise him for that. Don't think its jealousy exactly, but I do think theres a British thing of always pulling down anyone who becomes extremely famous. I was hoping this argument would continue, there seemed a possibility we might get a proper swear word out of you...............
