Update on Raikkonen's helmet Apparently Bernie does not want him to use it as he feels it is promoting the film 'Rush'. James Hunt's son who is on twitter is not happy at all. I think Bernie's genuinely lost it now.

 

Wouldn't it be stupid to promote a film that might get people interested in F1? Oh wait...

 

Looking at the long runs, a one stop should be possible for most teams. I'm not sure Mercedes will be able to do it though, they kept having to do cool down laps to stop the tyres overheating. Even Rosberg acknowledged this: "Our long run pace is still a concern. We are starting to understand it a bit better but there are still some issues we haven't fully understood so that's still going to be a problem."

 

sector time wise it looks between ferrari and mercedes in 1 lap speed. with mercedes long distance problems it really is paving the way for an alonso victory unless red bull or lotus have been hiding pace.

 

They can cool down round most of the lap and hold position. They only really have to push coming out of Portier, St Devote and Anthony Noges and with their traction they should easily fend off anyone following them. It's going to be an awful race I think, they'll be nowhere near the limit. Mercedes biggest concern will be the Safety Car - they might burn their tyres out trying to keep within ten car lengths of it.

 

Er... F1 drivers, cars and circuits are covered in promotion: am I missing something here? Does Bernie feel he's missing a 'cut' that might be almost enough to pay for one of Tamara's platinum toilet handles?

Missed the poll but I predict Jenson will be 8th and Kimi will be 1st. Although I have watched F1 for umpteen years something has gone wrong with the direction. I am still into the personalities but the press conferences are frequently about the bleeding obvious, never about something interesting. The pre race conferences are a real bore with no real insight and politically correct answers. I will watch the race but be as bored as Kimi with the circus that surrounds it.
