2013/14 Transfer News and Rumour Mill...

When I see this sort of junk on a rumour page, I know that 99% of the rumours are figments of someone's imagination.
Even if we did not have a recent "directive" from the Board to sign only 24 years and under, and only to sign older players in exceptional circumstances, why would any manager and especially SO'D, sign a 32 year old never was/has been like Jeffers. He had promise sixteen years ago as a kid at Everton but has achieved nothing of note during his career. How would he help Bristol City?

 

Tjhat has to be the biggest steaming load on that site Jeffers £1M even the Sags are not stupid enough to sign him surely?

Zak ansah and jay emanuel thomas will follow jordan wynter to bristol city from arsenal and free agent respectively

Saw Emanuel Thomas play against us for Doncaster when on loan from Arsenal. (Yes, that 2-5 defeat). he came on with this amusing high hairstyle, but 2 minutes into the game he had scored and was a threat all game. Didnt quite follow that potential up after, but in League 1, I reckon could be a big impact-

Dont know how true the rumour is of course, but interesting. The same source is quoting that we have made a 4th bid for Flint in the region of £400,000

Aden Flint, Jean-Yves M'voto, Gary Woods, Scott Flinders and Marlon Pack are all set to sign deals with Bristol City in the next week.

These multiple signing rumours are seldom true

 

I can believe the Flint one, and possibly someone else from the Gooners on a long term loan. JET would be good at this level though...

 

I wouldn't be at all surprised if we get players in on loan from the premiership as top premier clubs like to see if their youngsters can cut it in L1 against the men there. If they do they tend to be looked at carefully the next season before deciding on if they will be kept as backups for their home club first team squads or go out on loan to NPC or other premiership clubs. The player from Arsenal I would really fancy would be Nico Yanneris partly because like Wynter he can play midfield on right back but also because they are supposed to be friends and that would make it easier for the two players to settle into a new club plus they are both supposed to be extremely talented, hard working and combatative.

 

In theory we should be well set for players whose Prem clubs want them to play at League 1 level - good training facilities, steady/reliable manager, biggish club for that level, club wanting to give younger players a chance etc etc

 

All true but for many positions I think S O'D would prefer to have players he can keep train and sell on with just a couple of loanees not the sort of situation you used to have at Peterborough (The Scottish Fergie mafia I once heard it called) and now have at Watford.

 

The use of a couple of youngsters on loan from the Premiership, should be the icing on the cake and not the bulk of the cake.

We want younger, hungrier members of the squad who want success with City so that they can progress up the leagues with us, rather than a loanee, however well they perform with us, who know's that they'll be back at a Premiership club within a short time span.

I agree with RedRobin, if that is all we get for him we may as well keep him, as that will not be enough to replace him and stregthen the team.
