Many thanks AK. Good to see the caramel lattes have been found Am also pleased the Ãsbjörn did not object to us having one today Have a good day
Thanks for the tea, Ak. Afternoon all from a sunny but slightly chilly Jersey. Typically, just as I typed the previous sentence, it started to cloud over.
Hi wear_yellow, I hadn't seen the news at the time. I often get up late afternoons and just get ready for my nightshift
For your sake Barry, I hope that what we've had up here today doesn't reach you - freezing cold, high winds and more BLOODY SNOW Apparently someone has upset the Greenland Ice Gods and they have sent their weather down to upset us in retaliation. I'm not quite sure what to make of the Woolwich incident yesterday - some things simply beggar belief. If it wasn't enough that such a thing happens on the streets of the nation's capital, to hear on the BBC this morning that some idiots are already 'blaming' both the police & the security services rather than the perpetrators made my blood boil. We really do live in a crazy world.
I didn't know any of this til I picked up this morning's paper. How CAN you understand it? And as you say, to start hunting round for 'someone to blame' when there are photos of the evil, deluded creatures that did it, stood with bloody knives in their hands - I start to think 'I want out'. Go into monastery, find a desert island, get away from the insanity.
Cheers AK, I've also put the a fair bit or in the bar and on ice, just, just , just in case we need to tuck into it on Monday....
Evening all, sound like George Dixon. I have only just caught up with the grim news from London and really cannot understand what gets into the minds of some people. Last year a gunman ran amock in Toulouse and was eventually caught, but not before he tried to escape by jumping from a second floor window. There seems to be something inside the minds of these types which drives them beyond sanity. To try to blame others has become a way of life I am afraid. Think a policewoman tried to sue her force because she was sent to investigate a breakin at a garage and tripped up a kerb. She claimed that there should have been better lighting. Strange day really here. Went into Spain and realised that I know non of the language. It seems as if beer is a well known word, if pronounced somewhat differently. Felt a bit lost really until I found out that being not far from the border most did understand some French. To live in a foriegn country and not try to speak the lingo does not seem an option to me, but plenty of English I have met do not even try or want to try.
Tienes que intentar a hablar como los que estan en el pais adonde vives, por lo menos. Spanglish is also and option, or Castellinglish.
Sad but true OFH. This woman was in the Norfolk police. When interviewed on the local news, I can't remember one person, apart from her representative, who backed her. The Chief Constable certainly didn't.
I saw the news of the soldier cut to death by the two men. Very bad. Also I saw a comment made by someone that soldiers should conceal their uniforms. Even worse. England is becoming a place I would not wish to visit. I see it is only a few people that cause these problems and they were not common to happen but they do and are ocuring more often.
That is not true Ak - the media always make a big thing when these things happen but they are isolated and generally caused by a very few stupid people - if you go back to the 1970s when the IRA were active things were far more dangerous.
Totally agree. Paris and madrid have had it just as bbad, possibly even worse over the last few years and nobody would say not to go there. Also I very much doubt anyone would be apprehensive about going to Oslo and look what happened there 2 years ago.
Evenin' all...now I sound like George Dixon. Another day at the cricket...in weather more suited to skiing. Sat behind glass in the members' bar with a pint or two of Pedigree. Tough day...
