heard yesterday Reina is off in the summer 95% likely. his replacement is allegedly Swansea's vorm. Suarez is staying where he is but there will be up to 7 departures. the guy is usually spot on with his in the know ****e. Rhc ask your friend if he heard the same talk.
ah.... i think there's too much easy hack linking of anyone at swansea to us. I think make a list of 7 names to go then. reina, skertl, carroll. thats 3. is carragher counted? Then coates, shelvey and who? 2 more names guys who are actual first teams someone would give a crap about.
This + Carroll Not losing a great deal apart from Reina but this selling this lot should generate at the very least £20-25m.
fulham have been told they can buy downing but not loan him. tbh id have joe allen and boronin I know its borini but see what I done, in the 7 leaving.
bolton were quoted earlier in the season saying if they dont come up they wont be signing any of their loan players. but things change in football so maybe
Echo reporting 3 of them are Oussama Assaidi, Dani Pacheco and Danny Wilson forgot about Pacheco and Wilson so if you add Carrol and Reina to that only leave 2 more. I just hope 1 is Downing.
Really excited for the summer now - the player sales alone will fund quite a few players e.g. Selling Carroll alone will fund Papa, Toure and Ilori.
Depends what is meant by the seven. Is it seven from this years first team squad? Or does it include players out on loan? Does it include Carragher and Wilson? Carragher, Wilson, Pacheco, Spearing, Carroll and Assaidi are pretty certain to be going. Thats six. Coates is probably off and reports are saying Reina will go. That would be eight and we would still have Skrtel, Downing, Shelvey and Flanagan who I expect to see leave in one way or another.
I don't want Vorm, he is 29 and will be 30 in October. Fair enough, that's not too old for a keeper but still, no! Begovic would be a very good signing IMO. He will be 26 by the time the season starts so he is young (for a keeper) too.
I agree I would prefer Begovic. There are always a lot of changes in a managers first 2-3 years (if they last that long in the job...). Rodgers is building his own squad.
What do you guys make of Begovich? I can't say that I've seen him play often enough to pass judgement.
Absolutely and that is why I have said he will get more pressure this coming season having had three transfer windows. It is still not his squad but it should be starting to resemble something like it by the end of August.
Begovic is a great young keeper. He's had times when he's been slightly inconsistent, but that's to be expected of a keeper in his mid 20's. You'll have to pay a wedge for him though, as he's got 3 years left on his contract at Stoke & you'd face competition if he became available imo
Begovic is a great shot stopper, but there aren't many keepers who has Reina's anticipation when it comes to coming out of the area and anticipating danger and runs. Vital when holding a high line too. Wouldn't be the worst option though and I'd pick Begovic over Vorm every day of the week.
Call me crazy but if you put Julio Cesar in a confident, winning team then I think you'd see him flourish, perhaps recapturing the form which but him alongside the likes of Buffon and Casillas. It's a risk but a cheap one at that. Vorm's good, as is Begovic, however I'd prefer Reina to stay. Though I'd take Begovic over Vorm, younger, bigger, great shot stopper, however Vorm's distribution is vastly superior. Maybe Valdes if Reina does go to Barca?
I believe Mr Wenger is in the market for a goalkeeper, they've got the enticement of Champions League football too, and a hefty budget.
