So, assuming that it's true that Shola is going, what sort of strikers would you prefer we went after?

I'd personally prefer a target man and a speedster.

Carroll seems less and less likely by the day, and with the news that he's injured again, then I reckon we should just stay away.

I think Benteke would be too much to ask, so I'd personally go for Bony. Only 6ft but jumps like a horse. Wins a lot in the air, scores power headers and is good on the ground also. Decent pace.

He's extremely powerful and very difficult to handle. When I say powerful, I mean powerful. The bloke has all the strength of Drogba, and knows how to use it very well. Strength + Mobility = unplayable.

Bony would cost us 10-13m and would be well worth it.

    ----------------

    A speedster -

We need someone who's got pace and can make clever runs down the channel. I know everyone will be shouting "Gouffran", but I think he's too much of a grafter to be wasted sitting next to a defence waiting for balls to be played through. He'd be better running about, supporting the strikers and making himself more difficult to mark, than a full on striker.

Remy would be fantastic, and is another that's good in the air, but I see bigger clubs stepping in for him. He'd probably cost a lot and want more wages.

What about Kone? He's a bit of a greedy bastard when it comes to shooting, but when it comes to things like this, he can be reasoned with and talked to.

He still works hard, and has great pace and the ability to finish well. His runs off the ball are good. His positioning is not as good as Cisse's, but he doesn't seem to get caught offside as much.

    Can't see Bony here myself

I'd love PEA and Dwight Gayle from Peterborough

Tash when you say target man and speedster in theory you are saying shola !!

We need to act quick no mucking about I can see us getting one of our targets in January.

Gouf ain't an out and goal scorer
    But has other strengths

The sort of striker I would love would
Be one who understands the off side
Rule and does not need 8 attempts
    Before scoring

I want another Bellamy. Someone that will run and run for the cause and is lightening quick. I have no idea who though.

Basically I wish Adam Campbell was 2-3 years older <laugh>

Me too, Adam Campbell could be a real star in the making.

But back to the question... Now AC looks Hammers bound.

Charlie Austin and Siem De Jong.

Gayle is exactly that, but can also head the ball and is one of the best finishers I've ever seen

Le Fondre wouldn't be for me but definitely Shane Long, that lad always runs us ragged.

    How old is Gayle???

Have to say it would be refreshing for us to sign some young british talent for a change. Jordan Rhodes would be a good signing too, not the quickest but very clinical finishing and his movement for a 22/23 year old is very clever.

Bigi yes, but Perch at 27 isn't typically young. I meant more players with the potential to represent their country, such as Dyer, Bellamy, Woodgate, basically i wish it was 2001 all over again and Sir Bobby was steering our ship.

I'm really impressed by what I've seen of Campbell.

On Ferguson though I just don't see that he's going to make the grade, never really impressed me whenever he's pulled on the black and white shirt, same goes for Sammy & Tav.

Interested to see how good Streete is as well because he's meant to be very highly thought of too.

Saw Fergie in his first game away at Chelsea and he really looked the business. Straight down the line beating defenders for fun. He didn't do too badly against Man Utd either, scored a great goal from a very difficult angle.

Only issue is that they cost us £21M - today that would be £40M and all our budget gone. Dyer £6m, Walcott £10+M. Bellamy £6M, Oxlade Chamberlain, £12+M, Zaha £12+M, Woodgate £9M Curtis Davies £8M!!
