Pardew would like him. The fans would like him. He would like to come.

I doubt very much Mike would like his transfer fee and wages. I don't think we are interested.

To be honest we never know what goes on behind the scenes. So here is my ridiculous conspiracy theory to go with the others on this thread. Carroll signed for the hammers on Kev's say so in the summer once he knew he was 9th choice at Liverpool and he knew he couldn't go home. As part of deal to loan him, the hammers agreed to take part in a "Rooney-Freddie S" auctioning/stunt situation in the summer to help Liverpool recoup some money. Carroll now wants to go nowhere but Newcastle but Ashley is not taking the hammers/Liverpool bait and has declared "no interest" through media channels. He's told Carroll to feign injury and give him the chance to drag this out over the summer. All Carroll has to sacrifice is a couple of international friendlies but Ashley is paying for him to get really pissed in Ibiza as compensation, complete with use of a yacht. Carroll recovers before the start of pre season, rejoins Newcastle at a reduced fee of 12m and Liverpool are left pissed off. Yee ha.

Is Carroll really the answer? We complain about route 1football but want someone who can control long balls up to him and bring cisse into the game. In my opinion he's not that quick, not that prolific and is starting to look a bit injury prone. Surely we should be looking at someone who is quick and a good finisher (not just a good header) to complement our midfield players. Although come to think of it pardews tactical sense if we did sign Carroll would then have us playing it along the ground and getting in behind the oppo defence.....I say sign him up and watch the Barcelona esq football next season

We are not going to even try and sign Andy Carroll.

He's obviously waiting to see if we will, but sorry Andy, Mike is keeping his wallet firmly closed.

I hear you, however Carroll is not just route on he is good on the deck and link up play is solid.
With flair either side popping in crosses he would be great on the end of them.

Seems like a very elaborate scheme to save a couple of million pounds. Most Liverpool fans would actually be happy with £12m. £15m already seems like a dream offer.

Carroll is more of a true target man than Cisse ever will be.

He's underrated with his feet, seriously. Think back you all, try to recall him holding the ball up with his feet for us, I can recall times where he did that to perfection, instead of the ****e Cisse tries to do.

Get him back, play Cisse next to him in the Nolan goal-getting role. It'll work.

Tashgasms aplenty if we get Carroll's knockdowns for Cisse's finishes.

Crosses must not be coming from Jonas though

NUFC.com sum it all up nicely:

    Carroll claim

In amongst the widespread reports of an accepted bid of £15m from West Ham for Liverpool striker Andy Carroll, claims of a 25% sell-on clause to former club Newcastle may turn out to be a significant factor in his future.

Alan Pardew has indicated that Carroll would be on his striker wish list and although no confirmation of a bid from SJP has materialised as yet, the existence of that clause means that an offer of £11.25m would match West Ham's.

Doubts over the ability of the Hammers to agree suitable payment terms could also put them behind Newcastle, who now tend to settle transfer deals straight away.

Carroll's future has been further complicated by news that the heel injury that resulted in his withdrawal from the latest England squad is now predicted to sideline him for up to four months - well into next season.

PS: Wednesday saw a raft of stories claiming no toon interest in Carroll - you may wish to take those with a large pinch of salt...

Other sauces are saying that the 25% sell on fee only kicks in if he is sold for a price ABOVE £35m

Seriously doubt if Ashley or Llambias would have bothered with insisting on a sell on fee if it was for a percentage of future profit. They knew he would never fetch above £35 million if sold on.
