Possibly, but I have another theory.

When MA & DL binned off Hughton, they only did it once everything was in place with Pardew. Pardew was announced within 48 hours of Hughton going, so I'm hoping we're in a similar scenario now. Where MA & DL won't sack Pardew until they know 100% they have the replacement that they want lined up.

Only a theory of course, got nothing to back it up but I'm clinging to every last hope that he'll be dismissed <laugh>

Looks like clarity is on its' way. Announcements likely this evening, and I think I'll brace myself for "there was never any doubt that I'd be backed, we need to get this great club back up where it belongs" guff. Unfortunately most of what he says now makes me feel a bit sick. "I'll be better for this season", yet he wasn't better from one game to the next. All just smacks of such desperate, hopeless bullsh1t.

I've always advocated that we should keep Pardew and I certainly haven't changed my stance, however if he makes an announcement tonight and completely disregards the tradition of Friday announements then I'm sorry the bastard has to go.

In terms of tradition, I have never in my life seen "crunch talks" end with anything other than cliched lines about plans for the future.

Brian McNally has just tweeted that Pardew has told him "I'm here for the long haul". FFS!

Update - Brian McNally (Mirror) claims to have spoken directly to Pardew who said "I am here for the long haul".

No, he wasn't at Heathrow at the time.

I think you'll find that Pardew said " I'm here for the long ball " and McNally changed it slightly just to get a reaction....<laugh>

Jesus wept. I was really hoping he would be sacked today. Depressing news indeed.

He lost me after the Reading game. The derby mauling and the Liverpool fiasco were the crowning turds in the waterpipe. The standard of football all season has been shocking and our quality players have had their ability surpressed by his negativity.
    He has to go.

Pardew is f*****g useless. FFS. He can take his smarmy self-righteous grin and f*** right off. Another season of abject crap to be served up.

Tanked 7-3 by Arsenal on the 29th Dec (a), then beaten at home by Everton on the 2cnd of Jan, and then beaten 2-0 by Brighton (a) on the 5th Jan, a game I had to leave SJP from at 1:00 am to get to and we were completely outplayed, we just didn't turn up.

Yes Mr Pardew, thank you very much for putting on such an excellent show for us.

I hope you burn in hell for Eternity!

I'm not a regular on here, but I come down on the side of sacking him asap. He's undoubtedly had misfortune this year, particularly regarding the Ba and Colo sagas (our best 2 players), the woeful form of Tiote and Cabaye and long-term injury to most players including Ben Arfa, Krul and Steven Taylor (our next best or most important players). Also, he lacked the new season signings he ought to have been provided with.

Having said that, the quality of the football, both in terms of style and results, has been poor to woeful for around 32 of our 38 league games and both domestic cup competitions this season. I truly believe that in most other years we would have been relegated - such is the poverty of quality among the bottom 11 teams and the ludicrous wealth of the top 6, the Premier League is in danger of becoming as stale as Serie A has become. Pardew's inability to instil positivity and team morale is worrying, while his man-management skills and tactical nous appears desperately weak. His insistence on playing out-of-form players, often out of position, is mystifying, as is his strange mistrust of Anita, who has shown glimpses of real ability and has clearly required a run of games at the expense of others such as Cabaye, Santon, Tiote and Perch.

Pardew himself comes across as something of a charlatan and spiv, someone very difficult to warm to and trust. One virtue is that he seems to have a good relationship with Ashley and Llambias, but this may work against us in terms of a sacking. They come from a similar place.

Didn't you have a good season last season under Pardew? I thought you were in with a shout of a Champions League place at one point - what went wrong this year?
