Tabloid rumours today are reporting that Aston Villa will make a firm bid for Cresswell.... The silly season has started already!

Do you think we should sell him? and if so how much for? Nothing less than £10 Million imo otherwise what's the point!

I think 10m is being a tad optimistic. I don't want to lose him, as he's a cracking player, but everyone has their price. I would think the offer would be more like 3m with add ons, although i'd prefer 5m with add ons.
We have the likes of Mings coming through, so maybe get an experienced right back for a season or two, whilst we develop Mings.
With the FFP rules now coming into force, 5m could be a huge amount of money for us, as it then gives us more leverage to get other players in, and for 5m, you could quite easily get two (or maybe three) good players in.
It's a tough one, but as long as the money is right, i wouldn't be fussed either way.

Nothing short of 6 million will do.

We are under no pressure to sell and Cresswell has a 4 year contract so £10 Million is a fair valuation. <ok>

We can always do a swap deal with Darren Bent! <whistle> Come to think of it Shay Given is ready to leave them as well.

How things change in a year, this time last year JWM you were up for selling him for a pittance and I was do not sell unless it is ridiculous. I'm still a massive fan of his, he's probs the best all round LB i've seen us have and is still only 23 but I now wouldn't rule out selling him given FFP and the fact we now have a manager who gets average players playing well and where the team is more important than individuals.

You never want to lose your best players but I get the feeling loosing Creswell in a Mick McCarthy team won't make a great deal of difference to where we finish. Most other managers I would argue against this which is why i felt it was vital we kept him under Jewell. I get the feeliing after Micks comments about Creswell he will probably sell to get some money in for other reinforcements as I don't think he's got alot of money to spend and he really is our only player with any real value at the club. I'd be dissapointed if he left but under Mick I don't think it'll effect the outcome a great deal!!

Personally I think he is easily the best left sided player we've had since Clapham and is still developing... As a young full back I don't think we could even dream of some of the sums of money being banded about here but I think £5 Million is probably a relatively fair sum for a player with his potential <ok>

I think we should keep him as he's pivotal for us in the past couple of seasons but a sum of money around 5mill would clearly go a long long way in recruiting some new players..

I do think however that this is a bit of a non story and Villa will be looking at a number of targets so "no smoke without fire" etc. but I think when it comes down to it he'll still be here come the end of September <ok>

Kevin Brands will be signing from Dutch side Willem II and will arrive in Suffolk next week for his medical. A left winger who has been recommended to us by Romeo Zondervan. He has agreed personal terms and the clubs are still haggling over the transfer fee.

Great news as this will re-establish our links with Dutch football <ok>

I flagged this up t'other day as a rumour that seemed to be gathering momentum... but then I read on TWTD that it was a load of codswallop and that it had no grounds whatsoever..

Where have you heard this one from JWM as I'm hopeful that this does come to light as having a dutch attacking midfielder has been good for us in the past <ok>

I have heard strong rumours from people that I know who work at the club. There has been a hitch due to the 2 clubs not being able to agree the fee but the player wants to join Ipswich as he knows a few of our previous Dutch players who have all given him glowing reports. This one does sound pretty convincing but I guess we will have to wait and see!

" Do you think we should sell him? and if so how much for? Nothing less than £10 Million imo otherwise what's the point! "

Footy fans make me laugh at times !!! How the HELL is Cresswell, who before Mick signed horrific defensively, although granted had a great half a year, worth anything like that sort of ££££ ?

Gael Clichy went to Man City for £7 mill........... and that's after having a great few years at Arsenal. So for Cresswell to be worth £3 mill more is frankly laughable.

I would say, at an ABSOLUTE PUSH, we'd be lucky to get £3.5 - £4 mill for him. More realistically ( whether people want to admit this or not ) £2 - £3m sounds about right to me.

As for Brands.........

Senior career*
Years Team Apps† (Gls)†
2008–2011 AZ 0 (0)
2009–2011 → Telstar (loan) 61 (4)
2011–2012 Telstar 29 (9)
2012– Willem II 10 (0)

Really worth getting that excited about !?!?!

We already joined up with our " Dutch routes " for the frankly abysmal Pim Balkenstein!

You are missing the point!

We don't have to sell Cresswell so we can charge as much as we like for his services! <ok> With the stupid amounts of money now sloshing around the Premiership if there is a club that is willing to pay that much then more fool them!

I don't want to see Cressy sold but if the offer is right then we will probably sell. As JWM says, we don't have to sell and he has a long time to run on his contract so we can command the fee.

I'm not !

I agree that we do not have to sell Cresswell, and I agree that I for one really want him to stay. He was superb the second half of the season, I really do hope he stays and does the business next season.

However, I will draw the line at £10 mill. That is simply laughable, though I get the sentiment and see where you're coming from.

IF he were to leave, where would he go, and who would people want to get in?

Personally, I have a feeling he WILL go....!

Unless we get a very good fee for JET and Chops I think he will probably go, hopefully for a decent amount (£5m+ with % of next sale imo). It would be nice if we could get to a stage where we can develop and then KEEP our own players but I don't think that will be financially viable until we are in the prem with a cat 1 academy; until then I think we just have to accept we need to sell at least 1 hot prospect each season to build a team capable of challenging for promotion.

Personally I would rather lose Cressy over Tommy.
