The Belfast accent is distinctly Irish though? People don't think you are English when they hear you speak do they, they will naturally take you for what you are, Irish. I've never met anyone from Norn Irn and thought to myself "This guy's obviously British". I don't think anyone with a modicum of common sense would either, even an ignorant Yank would know the difference between an Irish accent and a British one which would would typically be English. (in the mind of foreigners anyway). For example, i've NEVER been asked if i'm British, i'm usually taken for being Scottish and on occasion, Irish.
