The team will be cut in size with some of the not so good players leaving. There may be three or four new players arrive, not all from Udinese or Grenada.
My watering hole will be even more packed and I will have to get there earlier to get a parking space - and we will be last on MOTD with the usual crap smug comments from big ears and his sycophants..
....there will be the usual joke about Watford being in the Premiership for 3 seasons. Autumn, Winter and Spring, for those who haven't heard it.....
i've heard there are 6 or 7 players ready to come in if and when we go up...not sure if they will if we don't. And yes, a new stand
For me the main ones that I don't expect to feature if we go up are: Hodson (who I quite like) Dickinson Eustace (unless a coaching role is offered) One Size (purely based on his lack of a decent hamstring) Yeates Forsyth Beleck (is he even still at the club?) Jenkins (is he even still at the club?) Buaben Mingoia (is he even still at the club?) Also serious doubts at the top level about Nosworthy, Geijo, Murray and a few others. Discuss!
Pretty fair shout they will all be gone. Strong rumours for Forsyth to Derby and Yeates to Ipswich. Quite like Geijo but not suited to the hurly burly of the championship and Deeney has been able to just keep on going.
According to Duxbury a new stand will be built if we either get promoted or prove that we can draw in 15,000 average crowds. Surely it would be too late to approach a contractor for this work after the play off final and expect it to be ready for the new season. So, would work be carried out during the season ? Or would they plan it for the next Summer break not knowing if we would be staying up or not ? At some stage they have to take a leap in the dark here, and just plan it regardless otherwise I can see it just not happening.
Key is getting the changing rooms built. With the change in plan to keep the changing rooms in The East Stand and not in the SW Corner (as it is supposed to now become a Sports Bar and more Corporate Boxes), priority is to get new changing rooms finished after the old East Stand is torn down. If they can tear it down, build new changing rooms and cover them with the shell of the new stand before the start of the season, they could go ahead. The during the season they can fit out and complete the rest of the stand. No expert in construction, so I have no idea if it is possible, but that is the kind of plan that football clubs work when putting up new stands. After all The Rous was not built in a day!
Posted by OFH on the short news thread: Prolific twitterer @WatfordTalk has been transcribing a GianLuca Nani interview with the Udinese site in which he seems to claim that Vydra and Abbi amongst others will remain at Watford next season, and that the stadium renovation will get immediate attention if we secure promotion.
i think this is a pretty accurate list...though Beleck has already gone back to Udinese. Jenkins has gone i think, but the others are still Watford players.
