Nice work in diverting to the collective and lumping all fans in with the minority; another fantastic trait of the ego, put responsibility for one's own inadequacies on to others who have no connection with the original argument. Still admitting you were wrong is a step in the right direction.......... once you go the whole way you will realise that being wrong and admitting it will not crash the whole system. By the way good luck against Palace!!!!

Would be interesting to see a table since the Middlesboro game, which appeared to be the 'turning point'.

But the circumstances of this season have been anything but standard, which is what you can only ever compare 'expected' to. Abuse from fans, in a team with existing power struggles and politics, 68? ish games, smallish squad with injuries and only Torres(who was way out of form) for a while and Ba already cup-tied, Mourinho waiting in the wings etc..... this is not normal, standard, usual or whatever other word you can use. Since the Middlesboro game you have beaten Man U twice and drawn with them, despite their squad being fitter and confident, narrowly lost to City in the FA cup semi, who again have only played 1 game a week for god knows how long, beaten both Basel and Benfica who are no mugs. And easily claimed 3rd place! You may have had justification for 'being sceptical' on his appointment; but equally there is now just as much justification to say you were proved wrong...... not easy I know, it takes a big man to admit he was wrong............ so I doubt you will ;)

Somewhat similar to yourselves really. That's why despite all this bs from Liverpool fans about getting more points when you actually look at % won which is a far better indicator over a season you actually did worse than under Dogface after spending 50M+.

Not sure what your point is? Unless you can provide a quote from me saying I have been happy with our season or Rodgers then your point is mute or once again the typical diversion of someone who refuses to accept their 'expert' opinion on Rafa earlier in the season was wrong. I will save you some time looking for that quote from me.......... it doesn't exist, you wouldn't be assuming I am typical of the collective Liverpool supporter would you???????????????

Shanks. Our team doesn't do normal at any stage of the season. We are an exceptional team which really indicates that the exceptional is the norm. What other team has had the kind of merry go round that we have in any aspect of the club? Rafa having to deal with these exceptional circumstances are part and parcel of being Chelsea manager and if you look at the circumstances of previous managers who have dealt with similar events and positions he has actually underachieved by winning only 1 trophy. It still amazes me how this man has managed to get the accolades he has as normally everything he touches turns to ****e. Just look at your beloved Liverpool. You lot are STILL dealing with his fallout.
The only bit of praise I can give him is that when it was unequivocally clear he would be getting the nod for next season he shut his cake hole and got on with his job. Then and only the do we start to see results improve. Had the door been open for him to stay on, no doubt he would have tried to get involved with the club politics and created a train wreck of a season. So no, I will not admit I was wrong as my opinion has not changed throughout the season. I still don't believe he ever was a good manager and think given the circumstances the team did him a massive favour by not doing to him what they did to AVB. Right or wrong the team was more responsible for this seasons success than him.

You obviously don't know much of the history of Rafa's time at Liverpool, bar the usual media portrayal. Yes he spent 80mil net spend(about the same as Pulis at Stoke in more time at the helm). When you factor in the profit made on Torres and the likely profit if the rumours of Reina leaving are true etc... his net spend was actually ok for what we achieved.

Often excelling in the Champs league, ok only two 3rd placed and a runners-up spot in the prem was not the best, but consider our rivals were Man U and big spending Chelsea it is not too bad, the truth is the squad just wasn't big enough interms of quality to compete across all comps(80 mil without a proper academy like Arsenal had lets remember). Just as many argue that Rafa left us in the ****, people forget the utter dross that Houlier left us with, a bunch of largely French youngsters who never achieved anything at Liverpool or elsewhere in their careers. What Benitez did in turning that squad around for 80mil is astonishing; and it is still bringing in profit years after he left. What anyone who looks past the media portrayal knows (evidently not you) is the Hicks and Gillette fiasco that really ruined Liverpool during Rafa's time, trying to stabilise a sinking ship in that time, whilst looking out for the interests of the club was comendable, but ultimately it proved to be kamikaze for Benitez himself.

Exceptional got you a place outside the champs league places last season remember!
