Queens Park Rangers midfielder Adel Taarabt has reportedly been fined more than £60,000 by the club in recent weeks for repeated breaches of discipline. Taarabt is thought to have refused a club request for a regular weight check and has also repeatedly arrived late for training in recent weeks. The Moroccan's actions have led manager Harry Redknapp to fine him more than a weeks' wages during May and put his future at Loftus Road under increasing pressure, according to The Sun. Rangers are preparing for life in the Championship after finishing rock bottom of the Premier League this season, earning just 25 points from 38 matches. With a major squad overhaul looking likely this summer Taarabt's future in West London currently looks uncertain, with the 23-year-old playmaker attracting interest from a clutch of European clubs. From Sportsmole. Oh dear. This does not look good. It seems that once again Adel is up to his tricks again. Seems some people don't like being called a fruit cake, who would have guessed.
David Mcintyre makes a perceptive point on twitter. If attitude is so important to 'Arry, why did he drop Mackie?
Lack of 'quality'. Plus Mackie spends a lot of his time moaning about other people's wages. Harold set this up at his press conference after the Liverpool game, telling the story but not the name. He knew the red tops would dig and identify the player. Nice one H, an asset devalued. DT, this kind of behaviour is why Adel, no matter how great his talent, will never hold a candle to Zidane. Personal pride and ambition should be the driver to stay fit and put himself in the shop window, especially if he hates Harold.
Maybe he is just disappointed that he hasn't reached the heights that he had told of himself whilst looking starry-eyed in the mirror.
Is anyone really surprised at this? Could have been one of a dozen players, just had to be him didn't it. I'd like to hear that this isn't true, but, I'm not gonna hold my breath! Another 5 million of his supposed value now then! Doing well HR and TF
David McIntyre ‏@davidmcintyre76 1h Been critical of Taarabt. He is what he is. But he's still done more for #QPR than the management, board and most of the squad put together. Can't fault any of that.
Agree. He has unarguably done more this club then any serving player. Only Bhatia in my opinion is above him in terms of contribution to the club. Harry has moaned about our lack of quality but not been able to manage one of the few genuinely talented players that we have. Warnock grasped that in our promotion season then promptly fobbed him off in favour of Barton and SWP and that ultimately cost him his job. Adel lost confidence after the Norwich penalty miss and Harry was unable to man manage him from there. Brings him on for 10 minutes here and there was only serving to aggravate him
There was absolutely no value in bringing this up. Whatever the thoughts are on Adel, he has at least shown some modicum of desire and ability this season. It's far too easy to see that AT needs constant attention and undertanding, this was always going to be far less likely in the Prem where "higher profiles" would be brought in. He is probably no little bit confused as to how he's been treated as sometimes he's expected to be the fulcrum and others he's a nobody not even worth a place on the bench ahead of Ben Haim! Love him or loathe him, he tore up the Championship last time and has been a decent servant to the club, this was no way to treat him and yes once again shoots ourselves in the foot in transfer income. Tony WTF are you doing? - Stop this **** now, our club is not even a sieve anymore, it's more like the Grand Canyon of leaks! Your Arry is devaluing your massive investment by the day and him and his cronies quite clearly want out - Now, either you get him to shut up or do him for gross misconduct. Take a leaf from Flavio's book - Call him a mug if you want but he wouldn't have stood for this **** and payed for it!!!
the more stuff like this that comes out the more I hope harry just ****s off he seems to be doing more to undermine the team than anyone else or am I just wrong(does happen)
Indiscipline can't be tolerated. I am a big fan of Taarabt's but if the claims are true, time to get rid. Regardless of there being any problems, it would be very hard for us to hang on to him anyway.
What cracks me up is his refusal to be weighed, what a girl ! Solution must be for the club to fit a weigh bridge under his car parking space, get out of that one fat boy. Or maybe a pair of trainers that shout ouch ! everytime Adel takes a step. What a bunch of plonkers
Agree guys, I've been very critical of Adel at times but I have also acknowledged his talent. if you forget the premiership campaign, then he has been one of the most important players we have and has almost (not quite) single handed got us promoted. I still don't believe he can cut it or has cut it, but he has "mainly" shown he cares and tried. there was actually a time over the past 2 seasons that I thought he was gonna make me eat my words. He improved immeasurably under Hughes, but then seemed to give up. none of us know the real reasons and we're only guessing but on reflection in a few years time, I believe HE will look back at the past 2 years and consider them a failure for him. that doesn't mean he wont go to some other team and ultimately develop into a good player. just hasn't lived up to his potential & if he is a true pro..he should be furious at himself! He was initially given the chance and I don't think he's quite grasped it as he should. Don't get me wrong, plenty of others have been sh*te and worse than AT. I just hate to see wasted talent through ill discipline. Oh well, looks like he'll be off soon then, unless HR goes. We had many threads in the past asking exactly that didn't we. guess now we can see the outcome/answer. I for one thank him for what he has done, but like so many others of our team, I believe it would be beneficial for both us and him if he moved on. I think HE needs it to develop; maybe in a bigger, better team? IMHO
He was a head case before we got promoted, are we really surprised? I've always liked the fruit cake but think don't think the team he's in will affect his development, he has a Messiah complex.
QPR sounds as if it's a really fun place to work, competition must be hotting up to see who wins employee of the year! My bet is a member of the punishment squad. No wonder so many great players are busting a gut to get in, or is it to get out of, the club, I can't quite work out which.
The Mail Actually, http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...R-REFUSING-weighed-turning-late-training.html
Adel was a star in the championship He has done sod all inthe premiership and has had plenty of time I love watching him but He blasts it over from 40 yards out He is no 2 stone overweight He will now either sink out of sight or become world class if surrounded but 10 world class players I love him and he got us up single handed but Harry gave him a chance and he wasn't up to it this year
First rule in Primadonnaship. Never allow yourself to be weighed in public. Adel has never been Harry's type.
