You can pretty much pick any Bale goal really but maybe Vertonghen's against Swansea as that was pretty good. The clever people on the internet have compiled all our goals this season to help you chose. My top 3 would be(in order): 1. Bale vs West Ham 2. Bale vs Swansea 3. Defoe vs West Ham
Bale vs West Ham is the one I went mental at but I think Bale vs Norwich was the best. That run from inside our half, skipping past players then the finish was just unreal.
Bale away to Man Utd, away to West Ham & away to Norwich. Other than Bale Defoe's against West Ham at home was class. Dembele away at Lyon
Just thinking the same actually... I also went completely banzai when we came back against City, so that one stands out as well. Can't really consider anyone else, but if I was then probably Azza and Verts would feature. Thanks for posting - had forgotten how many (non-Bale) great goals we had actually scored this year. Particularly how impressive Defoe was for 4 months!!
I'd forgotten about the Defoe one(should've watched the video!) but that would be 3rd in my top 3 actually. As much as I liked the Norwich one, after he rides a foul they all back off him because they're scared, with the Swansea there's no real danger but 2 touches from Bale and it's in the back of the net. Defoe ran past a few players for the West Ham one too but his finish is more difficult, that's why I'd have it above the Norwich one and it was the first Lyon freekick I was thinking of, the second the 'keeper just bricked it and should've done better.
I'd forgotten how good Defoe had been for half the season, some of his goals were actually great, not just tap-ins.
That too! And Bale vs Sunderland, Southampton, United, Arsenal, Arsenal, West Brom, Lennon vs Arsenal
The goal that Bale set up for Lennon against the Mousers was stunning!! And the entire performance away at Villa was awesome with some great goals thrown in. Possibly our most dominant show of the year - admittedly against a poor Villa side.
Yup Ade at Chelsea was my favourite. So unexpected. Bale vs West Ham is the one that really stands out in the memory though, one of those goals you will never forget, like Berbatovs free kick vs them a few years back.
Bale seems to have scored a fair few with his right as well, which is encouraging. If he can develop that further then he'll be on a whole new level, it won't just be a case of 'try not to show him on his left' anymore
Gareth's against Man utd,bet they did'nt expect that, and it signalled his intent for the rest of the season!
Vertonghen's against Swansea was fantastic, especially as it had a lot of "what the hell is he doing up there?" factor about it. Dempsey's pair against Utd and Lennon's winner against Arsenal were great for the occasion, but not particularly outstanding goals. Dembele's debut goal was great but I preferred his winner against Lyon, mainly due to the faces of the assembled French elite after it went in. Bale's got to take it though really, hasn't he? Norwich, West Brom, Swansea, Sunderland, Lyon... all great goals. His winner against West Ham takes it for me, though. Just a real strike of quality out of nowhere, having just been cynically taken out. Class.
I'll have to get back to you on this, but early candidates: Vertonghen's goal against Swansea was gorgeous. Just about all Defoe's goals seemed to be very high quality, but the one against West Ham is a good candidate for best quality goal of the season. Took the ball just inside the halfway line and left five players trailing in his wake. Ade against Chelsea. So many Bale goals to choose from...
Maybe interesting, maybe not! but I thought I'd take a look at our scorers for the season ... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/top-scorers ... I've also taken a look at the spread of goals of the other 6 teams around us. 14 goalscorers for Spurs, now considering Sandro and Townsend are 2 of them, it may aswell have been 12, the teams around us have on average 4 more different goalscorers chipping in, even Evertons threadbare squad manage 2 more, at the other end United have 20 players on the scoresheet. Goals win games, not pretty performances, more goalscorers this summer Daniel...I really hope our staff have seen this problem, I'm very glad we didn't get 5th on GD, it was a distinct possibility, 1pt is bad enough!
