Read many links over the past couple of days that would suggest that we are unwilling to meet Fiorentina's valuation for Jovetic, and with sanogo pretty much on his way to the emirates we have targeted Higuain as another option to Jovetic. Why not try and get all three? Sanogo is obviously unproven and will probably need a season to adapt. But i would definitely pay the asking price for Jovetic (which seems to be in the region of £25-30m), this guy is top top class, he has the physique to cope with the prem and technically i've struggled to see a better player this season. I think that he would score goals in the prem but i'm still unsure on how prolific he would be as i think his best position is almost in the second striker role. Higuain is also top top class and has the ability to get 20+ goals in the prem. By the sound of it both players would cost a combined price of around £45m, we have more cash to spend and with top 4 secured we can go and attract the top players. I would still like to see us go and get a centre back a keeper and a right back if sagna goes.
Sarcasm is really not needed, and if you don't think we could get both, which of the two would you prefer.
I'm starting to think we'll get nobody. Jovetic is too expensive, and Higuain is in demand. I'd get used to the idea of Giroud staying as our starter.
Sarcasm is always required. On a serious note, Higuain - I would much rather get an out and out stiker/finisher than another SS/WF/CF. Also I wouldn't mind getting rid of Gerv and bringing in Vela so front three Pod/OXO Higuain/Giroud Theo/Vela
Don't think we'll see either but even Wenger wouldn't go into next season with Giroud and Sanogo as our only strikers.. i hope
I prefer Higuaine because he's the more clinical. At Real Madrid he has averaged 1 goal for every 3 shots. (Whereas Giroud has averaged 1 goal for every 8 shots at Arsenal or 0.12) Jovetic is more of a second striker and is the more creative player. No doubt he has the ability to be TOP class but for me he could be another Berbatov. We could play both but that would mean going back to a 4411 formation which is unlikley. It's also unlikley Wenger will be adding more than 1 experienced forward.
I was thinking we might get both. But remember, this is all absolute speculation. The papers and web sites have far less idea who we will sign than they are letting on. They try and guess who we are after by seeing who our scouts are watching and by seeing who is available. They know the teams we are looking at, but not the players. We also have a lot of scouts. None of them had a clue about Sanogo.
Are we still on the subject of arsenal or wenger being tight with money. We are comparing this transfer window with previous transfer windows when the money we had to spend was little to nothing. It's been made public that we have alot more to spend this time around. Jovetic is a different type of player compared to berbatov he is more direct and he would be great for us in the prem, and yes most of what the papers print is bs but the jovetic saga has been ongoing for a while now, would be very surprised if there's no truth in that.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if there was nothing in it. Even today we had a quote from the sporting director at Fiorentina say that they had seen no interest from Arsenal. http://thepremierleagueowl.com/arsenal-not-interested-in-stevan-jovetic/ We are not even a week into the transfer window. I don't doubt Wenger will do his business early, but he has never ever, even when he had money to spend, bought a flat out superstar, always a rough diamond to be faceted and polished. I am fairly certain that he will buy, I point out we need 5 or 6 players, with very few in the youth ranks looking ready. He will spend money, but it always seems a little oblique. I very much doubt if the papers have it right.
Hi everyone. I'm usually over on the Liverpool board, but I've been following Fiorentina closely due to their connection with Partizan Belgrade. I've had the pleasure of watching Jovetic since the age of 18. I was there when he scored a hat-trick against Zrinjski Mostar. He became our yougnest ever captain that year (18 years old - and we're not exactly an amateur side). He's a very skilled player, one of the best I've ever seen. He knows exactly where to be on the pitch, and where to place the ball. He's got an array of tricks that aren't stupid like half of Ronaldo/Di Maria's, and like most of Partizan's prodigy's, he's got a footballing brain. You will always find him trying to unlock defences. He's also perhaps the best finisher in Europe at the moment. However I don't think he's what you need. I don't mean to be offensive or anything, and please don't take this the wrong way. I'm not having a dig, I'm being honest (from an opposition point of view) about this - it's just my personal opinion. He won't thrive at Arsenal with your current mentality. On the pitch are 11 losers, or 10 losers and one motivated Wilshere. There is a permeating culture of losing, disappointment, and failure around the club. This isn't a dig at you, it's just the way your past few seasons have gone. Your best players have left, your youngsters didn't develop into the superstars they were supposed to develop into, and the title is a dream. Players are constantly demotivated and the manager seems to not know how to fix it until too late into the season. Personally, I think that you need a fresh start without Wenger. Luckily you did well this season to get 4th with constant pressure from Spurs, Pool, Everton and Chelsea at points. If you sign wisely, this "losing" mentality will be gone. You need leaders and fighters, some grit. One isn't enough per match. I have a soft spot for Arsenal and I'd be pleased if you changed your fortunes. At the moment it looks like your only goal every season is to get 4th, which is wrong. This is why Jovetic won't succeed. He needs a team of winners, as he gets demotivated way too easily. He goes through bouts of almost depression-like symptoms on the pitch. He's an emotional player as well, but a quiet one. And if you guys want to compete for more than just 4th, you'll need to sign some muscle before you get him. He will do very well at Arsenal, and shine brightly, but he won't stick around. He isn't satisfied with 4th if it's not going anywhere. He wants to leave Fiorentina because he isn't appreciated. He can get injured easily, and Arsenal aren't very lucky in that regard as well. Signing him alone would be futile. If you want to sign him, you should invest in revitalising the midfield first. And I'm not saying that just because I want him at Anfield.
Will you let me know when you are going to be offensive, cause if that's you being friendly I'd want to see it!!
You just said he thrived at Fiorentina (last won the league in 1982) but he would'nt at Arsenal because they are a 'team full of loosers'.How does that make ANY sense? ..and you want him at Anfield. This is all a bit insaine. Did you take your meds?
Looks like the guy has indeed a looser mentality. I actually suspected that Jovetic is a talented football baby who needs to be carried to glory by a team of winners.
I understand the underlying sentiment of your message Danilo & totally agree. I have said it before and I'll say it again; we need cheerleaders to raise spirits during those 'down' times
