  2. Obviously, I don't like having a poor record against the other top sides but I hate having a poor record against the lesser sides. If you gave me the option of beating all the bottom half home and away or winning four or five of the top sides, I'd choose the former every time. It gives you a sixty point platform to build on with nine other sides to play twice each.

    Indeed <ok>

Take the negatives from this season and learn from those mistakes just as we did in January. Take the positives and build on them.

  6. I think the "not good" bit in the verdict is a little harsh since no one expected anymore than we got but nor is seventh a good season for Liverpool Football Club.

But as I said, overall its fair unlike QPRs with 'Arry <laugh>

I agree with frank on this one.

I've been following us since we came up in 1962 and the last few years have undoubtedly been the most chaotic I've witnessed. The club was a complete mess off the pitch and this translated to performances on.
Rightly or wrongly, I feel that this season has steadied the ship considerably, so for that reason alone I feel more optimistic. There are no guarantees, but it seems we have some stability now that we can build on and improve steadily.
When BR took over, many of us said that it might take two to three years before we could realistically mount a title challenge so we shouldn't lose our patience too early. We have improved in many areas over the course of the season so we need to see where we go from here.
I know people say we got a cup last season but imo that didn't hide the fact that we weren't getting anywhere overall.
Cups are great, they're part of football, but we all know the league is what counts most.
I'd much rather be us than Wigan.

agreed totally. there's a lot of proving to be done. this new season is ideal for it. prove you've learned common sense in the transfer market, prove you've stabilised behind the scenes with no drama, prove you've learned on the pitch and tactically. If the change is real then the club will push on.

That seems to be a bit fairer to him than he deserves.

They're right. He hasn't won against teams higher up the league this season and he had a summer to add to the squad.

John Henry's claim that "It was realistic to expect top 4 last season but not this" is the dumbest, stupid-arsed, ill-informed comment by any US American on the game of soccer ever uttered. And you can tell him I said so.

  15. Do you not think it is a good thing that they realise they were wrong and have re-assessed?

Don't worry, I'm not expecting an answer <doh>

I disagree: I suggest you read the article appearing online in yesterday's New York Times about soccer.

Much, much more ill informed, dumb & may I add even insulting: that series of statements Most certainly deserves your melodrama more than Henry's.. It's not about Brendan Rogers though......

No no no Gerrez! If that were the case people <whistle>.................couldn't keep complaining. I mean how logical & boring would it be to say the object( or one of the two at least) of your criticism has attempted to rectify the source of your original criticism next time around?

Much much better to bitterly adopt the same stance you criticized in others originally and continue to fail to see the irony & hypocrisy of said action.

Otherwise unlike mere mortals like Henry or dare I say Rodgers you'd have to admit your errors or too to quick judgement & reassess your world view.

How utterly appalling a prospect that would be!:(

    ok...

    1. on FSG. I think they had the wool pulled over their eyes and thought the investment they made in comolli and kenny was realistic to think 4th was on. hell we got teo cup finals... I think they got a reality check. they are learnign the hard way but have put money in and given interest free loans it seems. not perfect but not bad.

    2. on rodgers. i still think he's a clown but if he's capable of learning and improvements are made thats all you can ask.

    3. and yes if anchelotti turned up tomorrow i'd dance in the street

i meant reference to the anchelotti press story which was obviously false about managing us but it just points to if we replace rodgers with a real top man like that.... I'd not be crying about it!
