After Vetch's thread was derailed by the Malaysians I was just wondering what all you Jacks out there thought of the programme just aired on BBC.

My thoughts are simply the title of this thread. So proud of my team

And please lets not turn this into a slanging match

Short but succinct , it was like a power point presentation which missed an awful lot but enjoyable all the same .As Martinez said in so many words once a Jack always a jack

    Great thread title Dill.

I really enjoyed the programme. Had the hairs on the back of my neck dancing around.

Mel Nurse was in a state, bless him.

It reminded me that James Thomas scored my favourite ever Swans goal. You all know which one.

Funnily enough I saw the Vetch and thought of you Vetch :D

Curtis' goal against Leeds was pretty good,as well. They showed it often enough. Dobbie's at Wembley;Pratley's against Forest,oh,I could go on,but you'd soon get bored.

Watching it as a time line event definately brought home how much our 'current older players' are legends in the making, especially little Leon.

Our time in the Prem was a but rushed, but for BBC Wales it was rather something! I also thought I woukd never here anyone give Petty any credit byt Dineen seemed to ...a bit!

Shame it wasnt longer as I could have easily have watched an hour/ 2 episodes and they would have definately had the material.

Enjoyed that, glad I sky+ it though so can watch it again and again. Lots of stuff not covered and it could have been done over two episodes or a longer show. But it shows the passion of the supporters of our club.

I'm not sure what to make of it. I think they tried to cram too much into the time slot, when it could have been made in two half's. Lots of things missed out, as mentioned, they just concentrated on Leon when Tate and Monk have been on the same journey. Fair play to Martinez thought he was excellent.

I'm going to have to watch it again, and my view might change then.

Still thats the negatives out of the way. Boy it doen't half make you proud being a Jack. Now to make the fetaure length Hollywood block buster "Rags to riches" and on that note who's going to play Huw Jenkins, George Clooney? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I enjoyed it for what it was, it concentrated more on the fall and rise instead of the Premier League era. The next documentary can focus on that which will include the fact that we are making so much money we need a new matress to hide it under, and qualifying for Europe via a major trophy much to the disgust of our friend Aber who has said this morning that it is a development cup with opposition the quality of Bala (the Europa League that is), just don't tell him teams like Man Utd and Man City got busted out of it with full strength squads last season.

Our time in the Premier League is still being written, last night was falling to our lowest ebb and then rising like a Phoenix. Hey... I wonder if a movie would involve a synonym that that mythical bird?! Even though swans are better! <laugh>

George Clooney is a good shout to play HJ,never, but Russell Crowe would get my vote. Can't you just see HJ in all that chain mail, strutting down Wind Street?

You know a Forum is in trouble when that great intellectual visionary, aber, is being quoted. Only kidding,Project.

It establishes the low point of the thread, so it feels good that the quality of comment can only ever get higher. <cheers>

    As far casting:

    HJ: Jonathan Pryce
    Mel Nurse: Anthony Hopkins
Leon: Michael Sheen! Just think about how they made him look like other figures in real life lol...
    Tate: Jake Busey
    Monk: Rhys Ifans
    Mr Morgan: Phillip Madoc
    Dineen: Iwan Rheon

    :)

(I couldn't find a welsh actor who looks a bit like Tate, but he is English so American actor will do... it's Hollywood afterall where Robin Hood was born in the USA and Australia... apparently)

    Jonathan Pryce - good call.
Anthony Hopkins is possibly too short to play Mel Nurse, but he could stand on a box,Alan Ladd style.
Michael Sheen was sensational as Brian Clough,so he'd have no trouble playing Leon.

As for the crowd,we could get the inmates from Swansea nick to play the visiting Cardiff fans. They are probably all from there, anyway.

Just get the council to make benefit scroungers act as the Cardiff supporters in return for getting their next bout of housing aid, it'll fill the role (all two of them) and cut the benefit list by a factor of twelve but these ****ers would rather starve in the rain than wear the blue top!

I thought the programme was excellent television and a good vehicle for Swansea. Felt a bit sorry for the lad Thomas having to retire through injury after scoring a hat-trick to keep you in the league. I thought it was an extended football focus type piece. I agree that had it been over two programmes they would have been able to explore the issues that caused your fall to the 4th and how successive chairman tried and failed to regain top flight status until the club was taken over by the fans trust.

For the convenience of our friends overseas who can`t access the BBC IPlayer and are interested, they can try Expat Shield.

    http://www.expatshield.com/

I don`t know if it will work or not, as I`m within Wales. But worth a go I reckon!

I should add, it assigns a UK IP address.
