Well, given what Chelseas fans got up to at that time, fair play, and should probably laid a minefield or two, but I certainly don't want him at the Valley. Ken, I did say he was senile....... but you can't take away he has lived a life. I remember reading about him years ago, bought up in poverty, raised by his nan, made a fortune through hard graft (allegedly some say illegally in Rhodesia) never took a step back. He is the last of the sheepskin, chairman type, British with balls. He is more secure than those gun running, arms dealers or dodgy African chiefs. At least you would know who ran the club..... I do agree with most of that typical, but hand on heart, do we really need someone senile at the top of the tree? If he bought in large amounts of cash to spend, I'd still worry about how the club would be run- Still, who cares, anyone think the opinions of the fans would come into play? Plus, this is still very much a Daily Mail rumour, so it's probably just part of their eternal Tories in/Bugger off Europe stance, though I can't quite see how!
Will we know who runs the club? When Bates bought the club wasn't there a whole mystery as to who was running the club?

Not really Dicky, I qualified everything in my first post by relying on the assumption that the Daliy Mail article was correct. So on that assumption we would know Bates was taking over and would be chairman right? Following over to Ken's post, I have to say, that if Bates was offering a big bag of money, would we be in a position to turn it down? The world is full of principled people but offer a rich person more cash and they would dry hump their grandmothers. The thing is are we actually going to say your monies not good enuf?
